Cranky When you say your GP sent you for XRays have you had them yet ? It's possibly bruising to your side but if your Dr hasn't had the results it is worth giving the surgery a ring .
I don't know if you saw NMs advice re carrying the laundry but I would find a way to always have one hand free to hold the banister .
I got to the point where I would throw laundry down the stairs rather than carry a load down . That worked until I threw myself along with it one day
I do hope you manage some rest , only do the bare minimum for now .
I'm another who's never had the Flu jab . When all you can cope with is plain, white paracetamol it isn't worth the risk .
DD has never had a problem with it but it isn't advised for me .
How are the head colds maddie? Hopefully your OH is feeling better now .
Wednesday We're considering asking a former hairdresser who cut our hair for many years to do a home visit . She does a few mobile jobs as sadly she has PSA now and gave up her full time career . It will mean all being functional on the same day so we'll see where that goes .
Wishing you well at your appt tomorrow . At least your GP is a great help .
I'll take a break to eat and try to finish posting later . Busy week ahead from tomorrow and am going to wash the dreaded hair now and then food .

Afternoon all...
Cranky....hope your side is feeling a bit better.
Pollyanna...Mum and I have a home visit from the hairdresser. I can't bear the chemical smells in a hairdresser (perming solution et al) and the noise gets too much for me really quickly - why does the radio need to be on SO loud?..and then there are a dozen and more people chatting REAALY loudly (presumably to be heard over the blaring radio!)...much more peaceful to have a trim/reshape at home!
I have an annual check-up with the nurse in October/November...the usual asthma/weight/BP check...(plus the usual hassle about the fact that I have never had a smear test!!!.....I am in a very-low-risk group...every time I see a new nurse she ignores the notes on my record and tries to pressurise me to having one)....and then I get my flu jab at the same time. (I have asthma...and a tendency towards bronchitis that doesn't always respond to antibiotics....I have had the flu jab for some years now)
Weather has been cold and damp today...not good for my lower back!...still I much prefer the cold to the heat, so musn't grumble too loudly!0 -
...and Pollyanna...I have just noticed this thread (which you started!) has reached toe 1000 post mark!....virtual glass of bubbly in celebration!0

Prinzess I'm wondering if my back pain over the last few days is weather related . I don't have much back pain normally and this appeared out of the blue . Hoping yours will ease soon .
Your mention of the chemicals in the hairdressers has reminded me of something I meant to mention a while back . I remember you posting some time ago that one of the reasons your mum mops your floors is because of the chemical cleaners . Have you considered going chemical free for cleaning?
I'm not suggesting retiring a perfectly good mop etc but maybe in the future considering using a microfibre mop and either plain water or if you can tolerate it some decent essential oil in the water . It made a real difference to me and there are other mops than the one I mentioned near the beginning of the thread .
I don't know if I've mentioned it before but there is a mini version of my mop available now with a smaller head and a shorter handle .
It's good for bathroom tiles , showers and smaller floors and is good for windows too . Not exterior upper ones but ideal for interior and downstairs exterior ones .
I agree I think it's easier to warm up than cool down , the weather here has been changing from cool to humid through the last few days and the flannelette sheets were not a good idea after all . I left the bottom sheet on as it takes me ages to change it but have a cotton upper sheet on now .
You're more observant than I am . I never notice the post numbers much . When people were saying recently that their post counts had gone down I had no idea whether mine had or not .
Anyway we'll say thank you to all who post or read and look to lots more chat and ideas .
Did you manage to get outdoors yet AOT? Keep the shiny shovel handy , if need be you can always threaten them with it if it happens again .
I feel sorry for those here with IBS and other digestive problems , I'm lucky not to have them , my daughter is used to hers now but it does make things difficult at times . If you need quick access to a loo and haven't already done so I recommend a Radar Key.
I admire those with the deep tissue massage I think I'd find that painful but if it works why not . Most people soon work out what helps and what doesn't .
I need to get back to the few vitamins I do take . I'm really bad at remembering to take them .
I aim to eat the right balance of foods with just a few additions .
I don't eat lots potatoes but do eat a moderate amount . I couldn't follow the nightshade exclusion diet . I tried many years ago when Margaret Hills wrote the Arthritis books and it didn't seem a healthy way to eat for me . We've always eaten a lot of spinach and I always served up baked tomatoes with it as they help unlock the iron .
I couldn't be without tomatoes , they're a basic ingredient for me especially in quick meals . I think I'm lucky not to have problems with gluten but I don't eat much bread and pasty so I follow a balanced and moderate way of eating ( if we forget the night I ate nearly all the after eights :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) I think we each work out our strategies . It must be so difficult for those who have to watch everything they eat .
Well I've waffled on and this post may have timed out so I'll say goodnight to all and hope sleep finds you .

I'm not really that bothered; I've never had a flu jab in my life, and tbh, I'd worry that having something of that nature that my system doesn't recognise could well send me into a flare.
Yes, I've only had it twice in 2015 and 2016 and felt tired and like I was getting the flu afterwards both times. I'm trying to weigh up whether I should have the jab this year too. Hmm.0 -

I use a mop like that too, I can't remember the name of it but I just put plain water and a squeeze of washing up liquid into an old bottle, shake it up and then splash it around the room and then use the mop. I have laminate floors and it dries in five minutes. Oh yes, sometimes I put a few drops of tea tree oil in as well, when I remember.
Eco mop, actually I think it is called.2025 GOALS

I have received so much conflicting advice about the flu jab.......I genuinely don't know who or what to believe.
Without wishing to be alarmist I will tell you what happened to my husband.
MY husband was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition in 2006. He started to have the flu jab and I did too. We had a couple without any apparent ill effects. In 2009 it was a different story. I felt unwell for a few days and in fact woke up one morning and my legs gave way as I got out of bed. MY husband seemed ok at first but three weeks later he fell into a coma and nearly died. He regained consciousness but had lost all his faculties, speech, sight, hearing, motor ability the lot, He was hospitalised for 4 months. Gradually he recovered some of his abilities but he never walked again.
The consultant in charge of his care and the staff at the rehab unit all said that people with neurological conditions should not be given the flu jab. Even the ambulance crew looked at each knowingly when they came to take him to hospital and asked what had happened. One of them told me he had seen this happen several times, even perfectly healthy people falling into a coma after a flu jab.
Now I know that his condition meant that sooner or later he would have become wheelchair bound and that indeed he would lose most of his faculties. It was inevitable, this was the nature of his illness but the flu jab did appear to speed up his deterioration.
Since then I have heard a lot of similar tales from both the medical profession and from other patients. So as I say I am rather ambivalent now. I will never have another flu jab. Despite all my other health niggles I do have a decent set of lungs and am a non smoker so I will take my chances.
Update on the boswelia tablets. As I said although the side effects of stomach problems were slow to kick the boswellia has definitely upset my digestive system with a GERD and IBS flare up which I am still trying to bring back under control.
So yet again.....one more medication I have to cross off the list. Shame because it was working well.0 -
Thanks Polly, I think it's just a matter of time now and letting everything heal. My leg still looks a proper mess, and today my side is still sore but not quite as bad. I did see my gp on Friday - I offered to see the nurse practitioner but as I had a bang on the head and a cut on my head they said it had to be a doctor. I've had the x-rays and they said there didn't look to be anything broken.
I love spinach and tomatoes too. I'm not keen on potatoes really - I do like a baked potato with added cheese and onion occasionally, but at the moment I've switched to root mash if a meal would usually have spuds.0 -
Ouch cranky. Glad you are feeling a bit better. You must have been quite badly shaken and rather bruised. Take care.0
