Who's that knocking on the door?
The bailiffs, yes, you can be sure,
It's all because you bought a phone
On credit, you don't even own
A pointless, blinged-up 2Gb clone
Of an android, as already shown.
You could have left it well alone
But no, you had to buy a phone
To show to those you call your own
You jones to keep up with the Jones.

P.S. Check out Aesop's fable of the fox and the grapes. He pre-dates credit cards but his words are more relevant today than ever.0 -
Those ridiculous headphones would get lost in an instant. Why not save up the money instead...when you are not putting it on credit and it is coming from hard earnt cash, you may feel a little less eager to purchase it.0

Don't do it, there are people starving in the world and it is obscene to spend so much money on a ****** Phone.
Not only that, there are much better phones out there that are much cheaper, this thing is just pandering to the worst in us.
And when the emergency fund has gone on a non-emergecny and the money isn't there when you need it, imagine how gutted you will feel.
I would hit you round the face with a wet kipper, but it doesn't have same effect when it's a virtual kipper!0 -
Your total unsecured debt is a little over £10k
iPhone £719 (minimum)
Earbuds £159 (you will be tempted!)
Case £20 (estimate)
Total £898, or 8.9% of your total current debt.
Then, what happens when a new 'life event' happens? Car repair, dentist bill etc etc? Not only will you have stretched to buy something you don't need, but you'll feel guilt. Buyers remorse.
Wait 6 months. Save a little. If you still feel you NEED it, buy it. (you won't!!).0 -
What Muttipops said; thank goodness someone had the stones... What would you or OH do if you lost your job and suddenly needed a new boiler? You have a phone that works!
If you get this worked up over something you don't need, something is wrong and it ain't your current phone. I can't remember who it is on here who has "debt is a symptom; fix the problem" or words to that effect in their signature but I reckon it's true.0 -

Brilliant. I like this a lot. Thanks0 -
Ask yourself an honest question.
Do I NEED it?
If you are 100% honest with yourself, the answer will most probably be no. If you only buy what you need, and leave the things you want when you have disposable cash, you will appreciate it more.Just for today I will not try to solve all my life problems at once. | DFD: [STRIKE]April 2033[/STRIKE] Aug 2023

It's just a shiny toy. It doesn't even do much extra over the current iPhone. I don't ever feel envy when I see people with them - I actually feel quite sad for them as I know there's a slim chance they can really afford them.
Want a better camera? Go and and buy a go-pro clone from Amazon for £30-£50 which comes with a waterproof case.
This is an itch. Try to scratch it with something less expensive and breakable.0 -

Wouldn't they need more for the new chips/cameras (what with having two cameras blah blah)
It's 3gb ram on the 7+. Damn, I'm meant to be putting you off.:p
Actually, you have just hit the nail on the head. The camera. I saw the keynote speech as well, and all they did for a good 20 minutes was just bang on about the camera. So it has 2x zoom. So what?!
It will never be as good as a good dslr camera. Do you take loads of pictures with a phone camera everyday? Most of us don't. Save your money for now. If you have got your debt more under control by this time next year you might want to consider the next iPhone(7s/8/10 whatever).0 -
I find it hard to digest that someone will buy something as expensive as this on a whim.
May be the right for you to do is to close all your credit card accounts so you have no available credit to waste on things like these.Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.
Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.
Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.
Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.
Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But you can choose your hard.0
