I think they just felt it was unachievable at their current weight iwanttobese.
The gym I've joined has a pool so I go swimming after I've been to the gym. It's a hotel so they have a sauna and steam room as well which is nice to relax my muscles. They include your classes as well but at the moment I only do yoga, too scared to do circuts incase I can't keep up! I try and go to the gym and swimming most weekdays. Determind to lose my mummy tummy and drop a few sizes. It's a good natural anti depressant as well.0 -
Why is there so much of a difference running 5 minutes compared to 3? Felt like I was going to vomit at one point (didn't help that it worked out I ended up running up an incline - coming back down it was nice though - up till now I'd worked it so that part was a walk)0

Yes I like a swim. I do 2 aquarobics classes a week and usually stay in the pool afterwards and do 30 mins of lengths. I'm slow and can only do breast stroke but it's better than nothing !
I was thinking of doing alternate length of front crawl / breast stroke. Aiming for 4 lengths but I think that may be too ambitiousWantToBeSE wrote: »iammumtoone- did you have a nice walk?

Lovely thanks we must have walked at least 3 miles. I was thinking it would be a nice place to run but unfortunately I wont have the time to get there and back.sweetilemon wrote: »The gym I've joined has a pool so I go swimming after I've been to the gym. That sounds nice there is a hotel near me that has the same kind of thing but think its expensive and I know the people that go there are all stick thin and wear designer gear. Another swimmer :T If everyone else on here can, than so can I0 -
I love swimming, but getting to the pool is difficult. When I was younger I used to swim for my county...can't imagine even completing one of my old training routines now! Although when I go I do normally knock off half a mile or so.
!
Sorry I don't know why your post didn't quote earlier.
That's really good what an achievement. I ran for the school once at cross country, I came last :rotfl::( I didn't help myself as I knew I wasn't doing well so stopped for 5 minutes to chat to a dog walker :rotfl:
How many lengths of a 'proper' sized pool is a mile? I can remember swimming a mile once when I was at school. I still remember how knackered I felt afterwards and how hard it was.0 -
I found this which tells you what is coming up, if you would rather not know, don't look!

Yes it s a big jump.well done for carrying on. If i was me once I saw the hill I would have turned round and gone back the other way. weeks 4-6 seem the worse to me, I think once you get over wk 6 then you are running 25mins anyway so whats another 3 on top of that.
I am lucky we don't have hills round here its completely flat.0 -

A 25 mtr pool (rather than an Olympic sized one!) is 64 lengths for a mile. Although I'm rubbish at keeping count, so rely on my partner to do the counting - I just swim and occasionally yell at him to ask how many left!
When I was training (many years and dress-sizes ago) we'd swim 100 lengths for our warm up  then do a full training session and 32 lengths for a cool down.... and we'd do that 3-4 times per week!!
I think, as I'm only doing the C25K on a treadmill, that once I've done wk 3 a bit I might throw in some Wk 1 runs on an incline to mix things up and stop running on the dead level all the time....but I'll see if I survive wk 3 at all first! :rotfl:
Everyone here seems to be doing so well! I bought myself a new sports bra today from M&S. A little treat for getting this far. I just hope it's as comfy for running in as it is just standing in the shop!Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -
I don't count lengths as I enjoy swimming to switch my mind off and always lose count so I usually look at the clock and think I'll swim for 30mins/ 1hr. I am a good swimmer, always enjoyed it unlike running lol. Hoping to enjoy both soon! At least running doesn't ruin my hair with chlorine! I've put 2 sports bras (1underwire and one shock absorber) in my basket and will buy them tomorrow. They are very pricey so hope they are worth it!0

Week 2, Day 1 Done
:j
I found it hard going! Not sure if it was because of the increase in running/walking times, or the fact that i tried a new route and there are a few inclines! At one point i considered just giving up and going home, BUT i knew i'd be disappointed in myself. So carried on.
So i did a 5K around my town, which was much easier than getting to the lake, although definitely not as pretty!
I forgot about the school run, so there were kids and parents walking everywhere, but even despite that, i think i am going to keep to this route instead of the lake. I'll just go a bit later to avoid the school run!
clairec- well done for carrying on, even when it felt so awful. I cant even imagine running that time yet, i found 90 seconds hard enough today! So kudos to you:T
iammumtoone- i was silly and looked! Next week i will be running 3 mins! Best just to concentrate on what i am doing day by day i think, or i'll get [STRIKE] scared [/STRIKE] put off :rotfl:
elfbert- i think a good sports bra makes all the difference, especially if you are quite big in the boobage department
sweetilemon- yes they are really expensive aren't they! I paid £40 for mine...well, actually i paid £35 because the shop knocked off a fiver as i bought my trainers and bra there. I guess that's what you get for going to a smaller independant shop rather than a chain. But the chains are cheaper most of the time!
Who is running today? Have fun and good luck!0 -
A good bra does make a difference - it's worth paying out for IMHO, I have a really well supportive shock absorber one and it is better to run in than a cheap sports bra
Well done for carrying on when you wanted to give up0
