Did/Is anyone else finding week 1 hard? Or is it just me? I am embarrassed at being so unfit.
I found wk1 hard! And also felt rather embarrassedBut at least we're trying to do something about it, right?? And hopefully in a few months time we'll look back and feel that we've accomplished a lot!
I think aiming for a Race for Life is a great idea, and a great way to commemorate someone's life.
I'm aiming for doing ParkRun with a friend.
I do all my C25K running alone, but I have 2 friends who agreed to train three times a week too, so we all egg each other on on FaceBook and support each other.Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -

I have only just started so my goal is to finish C25K but once I get to your stage I need to be thinking of what next, I have that kind of personality I am better if I have something to work towards.
Yeah, it's flown by, wasn't expecting to get here and now I miss it if I don't run. I remember aching horribly in weeks 1 and 2, was tough to even walk, but the past 4 weeks have been much easier, thankfully! In terms of what comes next, I've downloaded the NHS next steps as well as the couch to 10k and will just see which suits me best.
Now that the evenings are setting in, I really need some sort of fluorescent top/jacket (not sure which is best). Does anyone have any tips?May'18 DEBT FREE!

I have a really lightweight reflective jacket, think I picked it up from sports direct or aldi. For when its a bit warmer I have just a lightweight sleeveless top.
I always prefer to go lightweight and thin. That way even in the dark when its warm you are not overheating. If it is really snowing or icy then layer up underneath that.
I also have something like this

Just found this thread so hi all
I've just finished week 3, so moving on to week 4 tomorrow I think (normally do Mon, Wednes, Fri but am away Tues lunchtime till Thursday) so this may work out better for me to fit it in.
My legs seems to cope ok with the running - my lungs however not so much - and I'm bright red when I finish0 -
I also go bright red. My legs seem ok, and my lungs slowly catch up with each weekMortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0

Hi Claire, welcome! !
I end up dripping in sweat at bright red too lol. My calf muscles seem to get sore during the run. I'm so determined to complete this, I was talking to someone today who quit after week 6...I just think it's so close by then! I think if im doing 3k in half an hour, hopefully if I work on speed 5k in 30mins should be manageable by week 9.
Yes I did find week 1 hard...actually I found every week hard but if you persist it does get easier. I'm hoping once I finish the programme to stick to doing 5k runs non wed Fri and just work on speed.
Hopefully it'll help with losing weight. I'm just looking at all the nice sportswear, looking forward to my size dropping. Once you get to size 16 and less there's so much more options. Im a 20/22 just now.0 -

Thanks for this! I agree, would much rather have a light weight reflective jacket, might check out Sports Direct tomorrow then.May'18 DEBT FREE!

I go really bright red too, it's embarassing! I stay bright red for at least an hour post run...i really must be so unfitI also go bright red. My legs seem ok, and my lungs slowly catch up with each week
I am hoping the bright red effect will fade over time then! Yes, my legs are OK, until the day after..my calves are aching today!0 -

Do you know why they quit in week 6? Was it something to do with the running, or they just couldn't find time etc?
Yes i am hoping it'll help me to lose weight too. I only have about 12 lbs to lose, and have started eating less, plus eating healthier, so fingers crossed!Fletchasketch wrote: »Thanks for this! I hadn't thought of that, maybe i should pick one up at some point . I live in a tiny town, surrounded by country lanes, so once i start running around the town instead of the lake, i'll definitely need a reflective jacket.
I am having a rest day today. My calves were really sore yesterday, so i am definitely going to look into stretches that i can do before and after my runs. I am sure that Google can help me out with that.
Who is running today? Good luck!0
