To clarify... Buy now listing or auction?
Before going in all guns blazing have it looked at professionally.. at least then you know exactly what you dealing with.0 -
It was neither, it was an eBay classified ad
I will be having it looked at properly this week

You can reject the car without giving the seller the opportunity to repair, however the problem here is it sounds like a trader masquerading as a private seller.
If hes prepared to do that, then hes unlikely to want to fulfill his legal obligations.
My post didn't read the same as I intended it to. I should have emphasised OP has right to reject if he is unhappy with car, but if he wants repair he must give seller opportunity to repair. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

These aren't guys valiantly trying to eke out a living in a difficult market, they're well aware of what they should be doing and intentionally trying to avoid the responsibilities involved.
By doing so they make life a lot harder for the ones who really are trying to do it right by competing unfairly and, over time, causing consumer legislation to move ever further away from common sense.
They then continue to wriggle around the harsher rules, which affect the good guys and make it harder still for them.
Totally agree.

Look up moneyclaim online. There is very little for you to do other than submit the claim.
Theres no costs involved worth talking about.
Oh, and ring him from a different number and note down the details of the call and what he says.
I wouldnt be writing a letter and i wouldnt be accusing him of being a trader. It will simply alert him.
I'd also ring trading standards and alert them to what hes doing.
You'll need to call the Citizens Advice Bureau as you can no longer ring Trading Standards direct.
Where is this trader based and what's his eBay name?
I'm happy to go and view his cars.0 -
He came back to me saying he didnt take any notice of the eml so didnt think it was a problem , and is disappointed im unhappy
I havent mentioned it but hes selling 2 cars at 20k now plus some tyres
Anyway asked him for a refund of cost of repair, am sure he'll now blank meNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
To be fair the cost of repair seems way off. If I sold a car and had a customer want that much for a fuel pump, high pressure or not, I'd think they was trying to pull my pants down.
Reconditioned unit on a £2k car is the best you can hope for really. Assuming it's the fuel pump... Too many diy era out there with a code machine nowadays thinking they know best. Which is why your doing the right thing in having it looked at0 -
Agreed , the car was nearly 3 though , mitzi knowalls tell me the rough cost of fuel pump , the death knell for many skint shogun owners
Anyhow , will update thread as and when
