This genuinely did happen.
I was coming out of the village shops today, there is a small parking area directly outside, followed by the pavement, then the road.
I had parked on the road (the opposite side of the road) being Sunday there was a space free in the park you are allowed to park in (takes 3 cars).
There was a million cyclists going through the village, much more than most, must have been something going on.
Anyway as I came out there was a load of them going past, I had to walk over the parking bays to get to the pavement - as I stepped onto the pavement one of them suddenly left the road & hopped onto the pavement about 5 foot from me.
I had an operation less than 4 weeks ago & I had 5 abdominal cuts, I'm still feeling not as robust as usual & it scared the life out of me!
The pavement is only about 4 foot wide.
I swore as he nearly collided with me, the shock of it, I wasn't expecting it. He shouted something at me then.
If he'd had a reg plate I would have tried to get his number to report him to the police.
There was no reason for him to mount the pavement all the others were on the road. I don't know if he was trying to undertake them or what.
Perhaps he was trying to keep as left as possible to appease Prowla?
However on a serious note, you got one A'hole in a 'million' cyclists. Human nature.0 -
Everybody should be to the left and the cyclists should overtake on the right of them (if they feel it is safe, of course).
Driving standards were worse on my cycle commute today than usual.
Whereas usually 1 in 50 obey the rule that they should keep to the left of their lane, literally every vehicle between Streatham and Westminster stayed in the centre of their lane.
Whilst this made for convenient filtering, and they were not obstructing anyone, you have to wonder at the standard of so many drivers these days who think they should be in the centre of their lane rather than to the left.0 -

Presumably this keep left sign is there to remind everyone to drive or cycle closer to the left hand kerb.0
-
Well, who cares where precisely they are in their lane, if nobody's moving and they're not in anybody's way.
.
Is this motorist demonstrating the keep left rule? He's very close to the left of his lane and doesn't appear to be in anyones way.0 -

Wow, bet that was quite a sight, must have taken them hours to all get through.0 -
It says all you need to know about society's priorities and attitudes that threads like this run to hundreds of posts, whilst a thread about a driver who kills a cyclist after eight convictions for using a phone attracts just four replies.
Thanks for that cross-post. I saw it in the Southern Evening Echo and was going to post on here but then I couldn't find it again a few minutes later.
I hope it changes the attitude of those magistrates at least.0 -

Presumably that's a sign telling you not to go 'round the right of it - perhaps it's a so-called traffic calming measure.0 -

(In the USA, they have signs at the top of the freeway exit roads saying "WRONG WAY!".)0 -

Ok a bit of poetic liscense there, a good 50 went through in the few minutes I was there.
It wasn't the usual Londoners who decide to get out of the city at the weekend & cycle out to Surrey.
It was an organised something or other. They had numbers.0
