No, I realise that. It just sounds a bit, unfair. Taking money off impoverished wretched people to fund what is essentially a vanity contest.
But then, I don't agree that the EU has impoverished the UK. Quite the opposite.0 -

Germany for example, they ought to have done just as well if being in the EU, with economic prosperity, has a direct link to sporting achievement. They came 5th, France came 7th, some distance off 2nd.
Can we just agree that it was a crap attempt to link something positive in the UK with the EU and move on?
No, we can't agree with that.0 -
No, that is observing how things are and making observations about this. I'm not the one downbeat and negative about every little thing that occurs that you may be able to tenuously link to the EU and then proceed to !!!!! and moan about it.
Or instead of persisting in further fatuous comments?
(Should we list a few?)
As for trying to dodge your implication of a link between the Olympics and the EU, your replies are nothing short of delusional.
As mrginge has said earlier, "That discussion has been had. We're leaving it."
Your replies are unworthy of further response.0 -

You're angry with me. I'm sorry that my views have upset you.
The UK has done very well economically over the last 40 years. In fact, fantastically well. This has led us to a situation where most of our citizens are very rich by global standards and we are able to fund luxury vanity projects such as sports programmes.
I cannot tell if we would have done better outside of the EU, but I know the above to be true because that is what happened. You can speculate if we would have done better outside and we will get the chance to find out now that we are leaving.0 -

I'm not the one who is down and negative about the EU, that is you guys. I'm pointing out that we have been able to do and achieve a great many positive things while being part of the EU, as a result of our economic prosperity, also while being part of the EU. So stop being so negative about the EU!0

Britain if it puts its mind to it can make a success of Brexit. It might be a long and difficult road but no normal person said or thought that leaving the EU was a QUICK FIX.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

To be honest britain cannot survive oputside EU bcos it may lose 3 million jobs (though some claim they are a myth)0

A good piece from New Europe about the Eurozone's poor performance, which may help to enlighten a few in these threads. The best-performing eurozone members, such as Germany, look good, but only in comparison; and their growth model is partly based on beggar-thy-neighbor policies, whereby success comes at the expense of erstwhile “partners.”0

This is good information. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.0
