Last minute demand from buyer
Comments
-
As shown by Morglin and the lichfield (and others on here), there are a lot of a***holes around who either have no clue, or have no problem messing with peoples lives, heads, time and money.
Hopefully you have exchanged by now OP.
However, if the buyer is now asking you to exchange and complete on the same day, please do not be tempted. It would put you in a vulnerable situation in which (given their history) there is a very high probability that they will try something...0 -

"dad" sounds like someone who is always angling for a deal and last minute concession.
It seems anyway very likely that had you agreed to pay the insurance and cleaner, there would have been another request following along, until the biggie on completion day which was now also exchange day. Another reason why, IMO unless there are exceptional circumstances, you shouldn't coincide the two, leaves you to vulnerable.
So, were they playing a game of chicken, or just chicken-brained? Tomorrow midday will tell I suppose.0 -
Im on the edge of my seat now, really hope you exchanged0

One assumes that if we don't hear anything for a while then that is good news and they are busy sorting out the exchange.
Either that or they've been arrested for tracking down the dad and throttling him.0 -
Wonder if the exchange happened, I'm guessing not. Then again, if you are dealing with a nutter then any short term satisfaction gained from the above could be short lived if the father tracks you down and starts ranting and raving at your door!
Also it's easy for someone to track someone down.
When I had my house, the previous occupy tried to blame kids breaking the outside tap (it was leaking) by standing on it to get the security light - no you stood on it to take it with you. They asked if I can forward their mail on - they lived on my way to work, mail received was placed in the bin - can work 2 ways.0 -
I wonder what's going on right now? Lots of frantic phone calls between estate agents I imagine. I want to go for my lunch but I don't want to miss the next instalment :rotfl:
I hope the OP gets a happy conclusion anyway.0 -
Oh MY GOOD GOD. Op you must be in bits. I had a bad house move and know exactly how you are feeling. I sincerely hope that everything goes well. I also hope that you manage to get the house you want to buy.
Please if you get a chance and I am sure it will be a mad day let everyone know. Good luck and best wishes in your new home. ( being positive )Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
