Oh dear. Sorry to hear this has happened.
This is pushing it one to start coming up with a couple more things you should cover the cost of - according to them.
It is starting to feel a lot like gazundering and there could be a list a page long of items you should pay for - which, funnily enough, add up to several thousands of £s off the price agreed for the house.
Just as well you've put it back on the market then. Fingers crossed she gets her act together and signs by midday tomorrow to Exchange. But if she doesnt then.....<shrugs>
Probably the case that, if you have to find a new buyer, to have a more "traditional" gap in between Exchange and Completion and then there's less chance for anyone "mucking around" and causing the other party to panic and thinking "Agh! Only days to go", closely followed by "Agh! Only hours to go". I guess a very short time period for that does tend to favour anyone wishing to gazunder.0 -

You could try my own mother's recent saga for size...

Some well placed smoked mackerel fillets always work. Especially near a heat source...0 -

Ack. I am so sorry I was right to be cynical about these two trying to push their luck and panic you. I am not surprised you were fuming! Glad to hear you might have some flexibility with your vendor though, fingers crossed for that.
What puzzles me about this pair of game players though is why they seem to know what they want discounting or paying for but seem to be asking for it so clumsily and unsuccessfully. Gazundering is shoddy behaviour but at least have a good plan if you're going to try it!!!0 -
Watch out for a new thread from a newbie stating they are buying a property but the vendor is holding up exchange by refusing to let an electrician inspect the wiring in the property."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
