Supply Only Kitchens - ceased trading

Hello,

I have paid for a kitchen to be manufacturerd by a company called Supply Only Kitchens based in Havant, Hampshire which was due for delivery in September

I have been trying to contact them for around 4 weeks to confirm the delivery date but I've had no joy. Today I found out that they have ceased trading. They provided no contact details of their administrators.

I'm stuck with no kitchen while they have our money!

I'm interested to hear from any present or previous customers of Supply Only Kitchens on their experiences and if anyone can provide further information on the current situation I'd be most grateful.

Many thanks

How did you pay? Hopefully by card?

Speak to your card issuer about a chargeback.

At 9am this morning their homepage, https://www.supplyonlykitchen.co.uk, had this message:
Supply Only Kitchens Ltd has ceased trading.

All suppliers and customers will be contacted shortly.
  • I visited their premises and the Administrator details are: LA Business Recovery, 01895 819 460

My remaining kitchen units were scheduled for delivery on Friday 26th August. this was confirmed shortly after ordering in early June.
After the non delivery yesterday morning I called SOK to find the phone system rang but strangely was not answered.
I went down to SOK at around 11:00 and saw a typed message indicated the business would re-open on 31st August posted on their showroom door.
While driving around their workshop a SOK van had hand written message posted under the windcreen wiper - someone else asking when they might collect their kitchen.
Early this morning I checked, to see why this rather unusual closure had happened my link to their website had an HTTP 404 Not Found Error (this has now changed and the page is just blank page). Their phone by the way is now unobtainable.
When placing the order in June for the remainder of our kitchen (our 4th order - different houses - with SOK over 7 years) we were informed they could no longer supply PWS (Second Nature Broadoak) doors despite supplying us with them on three previous occassions and most recently in February. When pressed the only response was they don't deal with PWS anymore. I was forced to order the closest thing to Broadoak I could which were doors from Kitchen Stori.
Since then I actually received an e-mail from [Removed] on 8th August regarding a technical query and quite clearly no hint of what was about to unfold.
My order in June was paid via a credit card and I intend to contact LA Business Recovery 1st thing Tuesday.
I spoke to my card provider and have alerted them to the situation but it will be Tuesday before their specialist team that deals with this - frustratingly and surprisingly they only work Mon - Fri.
Good luck to the rest of you who are affected. I'm in a state of suspended shock as all previous dealings had been fine.

Also refer to the Review Centre where there is also a post.

Thank you all for the information provided, I will certainly be contacting the administrators first thing on Tuesday.

Similarly to Quarterofakitchen we had email communication from [Removed], albeit in July, however we grew suspicious when he failed to respond to our emails and we were unable to contact SOK by phone over recent weeks. We were unable to visit the factory last week therefore we contacted local businesses in the trading estate to ask if they could see any activity at SOK. One of them mentioned that their vans were coming and going therefore we thought that all was ok but in hindsight I'm worried that they were clearing out their factory to new premises in advance of bank closure and the administrators taking control.

Is it likely that there will be partially complete kitchens still in the factory which customers could claim?

Whereismykitchen: you need to answer wealdroam's question.

Quarterofakitchen: I expect you'll be wasting your time going to the administrator, far better to make a S75 claim from your credit card issuer.

I do not think customers will be able to claim any partially complete kitchens. I think such kitchens will be sold and the proceeds shared amongst all creditors.

So to echo agrinnall's comments, I think you are better investigating how to make a claim against either your credit card company or debit card company. I suggest you read the following two articles:

  • I suspect you're right.
However, not knowing how S75 works will my card provider expect confirmation from the Administrator to indicate that (1) SOK cannot fulfill my order (2) Might be returning money.
In a way it would be a relief if my card provider agrees to an S75 chargeback so I can quickly start again.
Does anyone have any experience of chargeback caused by these circumstances?
In my case I need to match the SOK materials for the carcasses (Egger board and edging). This is available thru a local supplier and can be fulfilled in about 2 weeks (as opposed to SOK's 12 weeks).
It's now very apparent why (1) SOKs lead times and (2) inability to provide the Second Nature doors in June (very puzzling at the time) should have persuaded to look elsewhere.

Section 75 and chargeback are different things.

As you paid by credit (not debit) card (and assuming the kitchen was between £100 and £30,000) then make a Section 75 claim.

When your credit card company return your call tell them you wish to make a Section 75 and ask them your question about their process for making good on the contract. If you are unhappy with their response then post again with what they say. However the fact you are getting to speak to their specialist team sounds quite promising, as often the worst problems are finding the right people to talk to.

As far as I am aware, the bottom line with a Section 75 claim is that the cc company are as liable for ensuring the contract is fulfilled properly as were SOK.
  • We paid Supply Only Kitchens in May to 'guarantee' delivery of a kitchen in July. They reconfirmed the delivery date 3 times then, come the delivery day ... nothing. I had to call them several times before anyone there would even admit the kitchen wasn't coming that day, and we've been on to them regularly ever since then trying to get a delivery date.
I wonder when they last actually supplied a kitchen because if they've been taking people's money with no intention of supplying that is a criminal offence.
