Hi all
Well sounds like the trip was interesting Bossy. And at least it makes you appreciate your own kids more!!
Things are pretty rubbish here. So much work to do on job no. 2, I will be working most of the weekend. Worries about DS1, worries about money. Ah well, best get ready for the paid stuff. At least the sun is shining!0 -
Morning all.
Sorry to hear about the tax bill ATB. Being SE is really hard sometimes. Maybe the accountant has made a mistake...I'm keep my fingers crossed.
Got to collect the skids from the train station later and found out yesterday that DSS has a football match back in Sussex on Sunday at 11am (he needs to be at the pre-match talk for 10am) so feeling a bit 'meh' today at the prospect of an early start then.
Rubbish night with Small and Tiny making an appearance at 12.45am with complaints of lost pillows and tangled duvets. So tired now...0 -
Morning all
I need to catch up because I haven't yet done the bathroom (blush) and peg out washing.

... which is an excellent way to start. Now you know what you've got to deal with any tiny thing you do will be a big improvement, won't it? I make myself put three things away each time I go into the Room of Doom and, superficially, it already looks a lot better. I'm not too worried about the non-superficials at the moment, either. Once you start, you'll be amazed at how quickly you get on top of it, BM, honestly, just do the most obvious thing first and you're away. Thinking about it as one massive job is what we do when we're overwhelmed by it, and it's honestly not one big thing that has to be dealt with all at once, it's a series of tiny things that are, individually, fairly straightforward.
Welcome home, Bossy. I'm glad some bits of it were fun, but it sounds as though your mum and stepdad are giving some kids who need a lot of help some of the things the rest of us took for granted when we were growing up. *admiration* all round, I think.
I need to get a grip on the chaos here over the next few days. There's a very laid back residents' association croquet tournament in the communal garden on Sunday and the ground floor needs to look a darn sight smarter than it does at the moment. Then the lodger is moving up to the Room of Doom so that'll need to be sparkling by Monday evening and it's a very, very long way off that.
I've done the handsoaps and unloaded the DW so I suppose, technically, I have already flown a bit this morning.Better is good enough.0 -

So very true. And I'm surrounded by lots of lists of tiny things but suspect it takes longer to write the lists than do the stuff.......never did get round to finishing that Mindfulness course; grudgingly accepted their philosophy that multi-tasking doesn't always work out more efficient, but trouble is I love multi-tasking.
Anyway I'm going into the garden before it gets too hot. I need to do the following in order of priority:
-Prune down the path at the side of the garden so neighbour can get to water greenhouse while we're away without having to use a machete
- make sure greenhouse is easily accessible so neighbour doesn't trip over anything
- plant out anything that is still in a pot or tray, whether there is room or not, so there is less for him to water/find/trip over
- prune fruit bushes and tie in new growth of loganberries
Sorry that's all garden flying but I'll do house stuff when either that lot is done or it's too hot to stay outside.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for the support ATB and HB, overwhelmed had been the right word for these last few days.
I've just lost a long post, but the upshot is in going to tackle it in small, manageable chunks until this afternoon, then spend some time painting our new bedroom. Part of the reason I'm down is the living in a building site problem. I need to paint, so we can move in to the downstairs rooms.
Bossy were you in a caravan? We bought one at the end of last year,it was my idea. We have now used it a few times, I've given it a chance and decided it's not for me. I like my space and privacy. The dog hates it too. Unfortunately dds love it.
Right, first block.
Strip bed.
Get kids to make their bed.
WM
DW unloaded and loaded.
Swish bog and sink.
Clear kitchen worktops etc.
Clear gibble from Hall.
Hoover and mop kitchen floor and hall floor.
I'll be back.0 -
DD has gone out. I'm just having an ice pop to cool down after over an hour of ironing then I'm going to finish the livingroom off after lunch.

Once I've vacuumed downstairs and dusted the livingroom for the second time this week (Where does all the dust come from ?!?!) just about everything should be done on the list. I still need to have a shower and do the weekly shop but without DD around I should be able to get things done pretty fast...in theory and the other shops can wait until tomorrow morning when DD is out with her dad.

Ahhh waking up in ones own bed
Lovely morning, with en-suite bathroom, fancy coffee machine and good-tempered children! We've all had a good scrub and hair wash, fresh clothes and DS put on some hair gel haha. Much better!
Yes BM it is a caravan, plus awning, but there were 8 of us and it was cramped with toddlers that like to run around and need "stuff". It's my mums, not mine. It's only the 3rd or 4th time she's used it.
Productive morning: car emptied (almost) and bit of unpacking done. Kids bedding washed and out blowing on the whirligig, trip to Cl@rks outlet (worked well, they had measurers outside under a canopy, then you took your size card in and found / tried on what you choose, then a fitter would come and double check they were right - I'd checked ours and was happy but they had a look anyway) so new school shoes are sorted.
The outlet probably saved me about £25 vs the regular shop, but given they had a happy meal and a go on the bungee trampolines I'm not sure it was worth the saving :rotfl:
This afternoon will be about more unpacking, laundry, possibly vaccing the car out and if NDN have my parcel, maybe putting the frosted window film on the "garage" patio doors.
Kiddies are outside with watering cans and bringing me ripe tomatoes inBossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0
