No, i'm not one of these keyboard warriors that does a full background check on every new forum post.
Although I agree sometimes signage can be confusing, but in that case what the motorist needs is something to inform them of the correct speed limit for any given stretch of road. There is no need to know the location of safety/speed cameras.

But what i'm saying is that it is quite often these locations where they set speed traps (mobile scamera vans), the fixed cameras not so much.

It's different in different parts of the country, so to some people this may sound far fetched, but it's absolutely the truth.
I don't know if the van operators choose their hunting spots using their local knowledge of poor road signage in order to meet their enforcement targets OR if the roads are deliberately designed this way to facilitate speed enforcement and generate revenue (I strongly suspect it's a bit of both).

But if it's a reasonable question, then why not? In 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6 years time someone could come here looking for that exact question/answer.

If everyone censored everything on the internet because it might have been a "troll post", then we'd have access to considerably less information than we currently do.

Surely an app that reminds you of the speed limit on any particular road would be more useful, stick to the limit and you don't need to k ow where cameras are

A simplistic view of the issue, if you don't mind me saying so. It is very, very easy to drift over a particular speed limit and be caught - unless you spend more time looking at the speedo than you do looking out of the windscreen.

There is no doubt about it, that revenue raising is a key component of speed camera deployment, so something that alerts you to their presence is a useful tool.

Complete tosh, given that unless you are driving a vehicle with a calibrated speedometer, your speedo will over read, people who get caught at a few miles an hour over, should be aware of the fact as being caught at 33-34mph the indicated speed is going to be north of 35 and that's not a needles width over. I can easily concentrate on watching the road and monitoring my speed at the same time, any half compitant driver should be able to do this and with more and more cars having cruise control with speed limit function the job is getting easier. My experience is that people will purposely speed where they think they can get away with it and that includes slowing down for cameras and then as soon as they think the are clear, speeding back up again.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

Best bet is to ASSUME there are speed cameras on every road. That way your more likely to stick to the speed limit and not get caught out by a speed camera you DIDN'T expect. ;)

Actually, that is complete tosh. My Audi A4 gives a precise speedometer reading. And who is going to use cruise control when, for example, you're driving though areas where the speed limit is constantly changing - 60 mph down to 40 mph for a couple of hundred yards, then down to 30, then up to 40, then 70 etc, etc. There are many such areas where I live - and guess what? These are the areas where I've noted most of the speed camera van deployments by the police force close to my area.

This is it, in some areas it's very clear that the speed cameras are deployed on sections of road where they can pick on easy targets.

Local to me a certain dual-carriageway has a 50 limit with multiple points where the road opens to two lanes then quickly closes to a single lane. The speed camera vans are very often located where the road merges, knowing full well that the road design tends to make the vast majority of drivers "race" to stop people merging.

Stopping people merging is a moronic thing to do and partly they deserve all they get, BUT most people are acting on a subconscious level and the cameras are taking advantage of what is largely human nature and the road itself is a little too perfectly designed to create that situation.

I still cannot find a solution that works and I really need to sort that speed camera of british roads.

I need a program that will be ALWAYS active, not relying on me to activate it. Then I need it to warn me about speed cameras. It's not rocket science, there isn't any such thing? For android. thanks!
