Well hey, if you're the first perfect human being and you've never ever made a mistake or forgotten to take a pill (any pill) then I take my hat off to you. You're unique.

    Sarcasm ill becomes you.

You don't need to be a perfect human being to remember to do one simple thing on a regular basis when, to all intents and purposes, your life depends on it.

I don't think that its a common thing for women to be cavalier with contraception just because abortion is easily available in Britain. There are some who 'forget 'to use contraception, often due to alcohol but that's not the same as the majority.

They're more reliable than the snip, condoms, oral contraceptives, contraceptive injections and patches. Having them fitted and removed also is umcomfortable for some, not all.

The official 'party line' is that they're at least 99% effective but loads of unplanned pregnancies seem to occur when using them (not just peachyprices!) I'm not sure why, - perhaps in some cases they weren't fitted correctly?

Both of my coils worked there own way out, making it impossible for me to be sure if I was at risk of pregnancy or not. The first one was agonising, the copper one not painful at all. They are very invasive but are the longest lasting and therefore hardest to misuse

Ah, you've answered my question, I think. Thankyou.

I agree, they are horrible things :(

I still maintain that prevention is better than cure, and it's a shame that more people don't

If they are not fitted correctly the user is unable to feel the strings during each check. Anything that isn't permanent isn't allowed to be publicised as being more than 99% effective, which is why they have changed th effectiveness figures on the nexplan.

Loads of unplanned pregnancies don't occur on them, if you look at the high number of women using coils on the UK, you'll realise the number falling pregnant is low. Much lower than condom, pill or injection use. For the pill, injection and implant the effectiveness is only based on the first 12 months of use, where as the coils is based on the life of the product.

Which is why the implant on paper sounds good, but is generally poor over the three years of use, which is why many are now replaced after 18 montha.

Probably because you seem to associate with people who don't use contraception, but are unable to show this is at all a norm.

Because you're incredibly vague about exactly who it is that thinks multiple abortions is better than contraception. You're talking about 'prevention being better than cure' as though its some radical idea that you've come up with rather than the way pretty much everybody else thinks on the subject too!

They do! It's always been known (informally) to be unreliable.
