That has never happened to me. My card regularly fails on contactless and I need to put in a PIN.
No, I didn't think that worked either. Can anyone confirm whether it works?

I used to be able to reset my cards using 'PIN unlock' at an ATM but that doesn't seem to work any more, and I resent having to make unnecessary purchases just to do that. TSB really don't like paying out, do they?
  • If the card fails, I use another one for the purchase and then take out £10 from an ATM. It works again right after that.

Shouldn't be a need to take any cash out, a balance should be sufficient.

I found that if the card doesn't work contactlessly on one day, leave it a day or two and then it starts working again.

Just getting a balance never worked for me, though doing 'Unlock PIN' always used to.

That has never worked for me either.

My TSB contactless as I posted in another thread tends to decline Contactless around 1 out of every 3 transactions, I get the dreaded beep beep and insert card very frequently. The only thing that usually works is a C&P transaction, but even then I have been asked for a PIN again immediately after.

My 5% cashback offer finishes in December, and too be honest I won't miss the mucking about you seem to need to do with this card to get it to go via contactless.

Balance has worked for me, it's a pin transaction after all.
  • Our local one has just started taking contactless, in the last week or two.

I'm planning to see if they'll let me add money to one of their Xmas savings gift cards using contactless payment - if so, I'll load a couple in Oct/Nov for the £6 bonus they apply in November and use for the Xmas shopping

Thanks,Will have a look into this,if I can load up another gift card/s at another Asda that takes contactless I can then use them at my local one.

I find that withdrawing the odd £10 from an ATM every couple of weeks means no declined contactless transactions

I've just applied for one of these as I am thinking of trying to go completely cashless (just for kicks, but also so that I don't have to keep going to the ATM). Reading this thread it sounds like I'll always need to carry my Oyster and either another card or some cash, for all the times the transaction won't go through :(. Does it really happen that often - one time in three?
