    :A

"Sorry for being an idiot" is what I'm looking for.

In that case I suggest looking in the mirror.

There's no need for personal attacks. I was simply being factual.

The local authority has a statutory duty to house children if they are homeless, so if your mother evicts the family, it will be rehoused, even if only in temporary accommodation. However, if social services are called, chances are the children might be taken into care. Your mother might be doing them a big favour by evicting them.

    sorry for being factually correct!!

seriously Guest101 quite of few of your posts you are quite cutting, and quite frankly there is no need for it.

someone says social security and you just had to be that one person who has to be the one to correct them, well i knew what they meant.

And before you start on my posts with spelling and grammar i'll just stop you there, I have MS and part of the condition is cognitive skills so DON'T go there. And no i will not open a word document to type things for spelling and grammar just for you.

Just think about how some things you say are upsetting, and no we are not all namby pamby babies, but i personally don't accept this kind of carp from anyone, be it face to face or on forums.

Basically, you have been quite judgmental towards the poor lady. I'd get slated if it was me :)

In fairness to Tigsteroonie, the OP says that his mom has been struggling with an IO mortgage, to the point of narrowly avoiding repossession, and has now found a new lender at high rates.
The possession action is unlikely to have resulted in the mom being entitled to another IO or competitive mortgage deal, and we are told it is unaffordable unless the brother contributes.

Given what the OP tells us about the brother, the latter is by no means certain. Altogether this is strongly indicative that the moms long term ownership of the property is probably not viable.

I also have some sympathy with the view that the mom may not take any action. However fed up she is of her son, it would be very difficult for most grandmothers to evict their young grandchildren.

I feel for the OPs mom, she is in a difficult situation. If she no longer had to worry about an unaffordable mortgage this may ease some of the pressure.

    Fair points Daytona.

I'd particularly echo the number crunching before committing to a new mortgage.

You're correct we don't have all the information to judge, but warning bells ring at someone taking out a (probably) sub prime rate mortgage after struggling on IO.

The OP has a mortgage of his own so presumably the commitment would be his mom only, not both, despite his use of 'we'.

Your mother is an adult and capable of making her own decisions.

Your sister is an adult, and capable of making her own decisions.

Your brother is an adult, and capable of making his own decisions.

Your brother's girlfriend is an adult, and capable of making her own decisions.

But your niece and nephew, are not capable of making their own decisions, and are unable to get away from what sounds like a horrific living situation. It is just awful for them.

Please please PLEASE do something to help those children. There is absolutely nothing good in your posts about those children's living conditions. Nothing.

I would say it is your moral duty to speak to someone - social services, their schools when they are back from the holidays (although I don't think this can wait until then) or the NSPCC and ask someone to do something to help them.

Their home conditions sound appalling, and their diet is just as bad. Please get help for them.
