I find three hard to believe ... 1p flights yes, but zero tax and wheelchair levy AND zero credit card fees, I'd be surprised if I completely missed one of those ... but I did say they were short-lived, and they were on a shortish list of routes too. Anyway, for the usual good old "bait and switch" marketing purposes, those ultra cheap fares were promoted at the same time as other "1p" and "79p" fares on the same routes but which of course attracted taxes and fees.0

The offers werent for 1p flights they were for FREE flights but apparently they had to charge 1p for reasons unknown to me, but that was why there was no charges on credit cards etc0 -
I can confirm that I did get two seperate flights this year, both for 1p each way (no taxes).
TOTAL COST
2P,paid with a Visa debit card.
One flight to Dublin
One flight to Reus
I must have missed the first offer but the two I did get were genuine offers and no catches.
2p return
Loads of people on these boards got them it so it`s no use saying it didn`t happen.
Thanks once again to Michael O`Leary0 -

PPS plan0player, I have bought a number of one legged return sectors from Europe over the months and years, and found that Ryanair more often than not use something called Dynamic Currency Conversion without my permission to convert the foreign currency to GBP before they bill my credit card. Because I use Nationwide, it costs me at least 3% more when they do that. On principle I get Nationwide to complain to VISA about it and meantime Nationwide refund my account with the illicit overcharges. You can search the forums for 'Dynamic Currency Conversion' for more information about this 3 year old (at least) third-party-hand in your wallet phenomenum.
Do you have a standard template letter for this Peter ? Could you maybe post it for others to copy ? (omitting personal details obviously)0 -

I assume you've been looking at the Web Check-in conditions ... I see no big problems at all for you ... and only a small £12 one if you really must now take a checked in suitcase out with you to Denmark for some reason? Perhaps your son now wants you to bring something in a suitcase for him? Or does he just want you to bring something back?
In the former case it looks to me like you will be charged a total of £12 on Tuesday for deciding to swap to a desk check-in (£2), and for then taking a bag on what WAS a web check-in (£10). Put it this way, I DON'T think they will try to charge you 2x£12=£24. If they query it, just be truthful and say the suitcase is your son's idea and you dont need to bring it back on Thursday and leave it at that.
So your outbound flight is still Tuesday and it is web check-in. To save the £12 and modest inconvenience, I suggest that you stick to the original plan if you can, DO still check-in online, and just take a 10kg cabin bag TO Denmark. If you DO take a suitcase for checking in, allow extra time to visit the Ryanair information/payments desk to agree the change (there are usually two such desks operating at Stansted ... one near E/F and one near H/J) before you go to the check-in desk (who can't accept payments).
My reading of the conditions is that you will still be given priority boarding on Tuesday whatever you decide...
Just forget your Thursday ticket completely. You simply won't be using it or that reference again after Tuesday.
On Saturday you will be checking in at the desk in Denmark using the new reference your son has booked. On this single sector back to the UK, it doesn't matter whether you bring back an extra bag (provided by your son or magicked from inside your original 10kg bag!) OR NOT. Your son has paid for one, but you are not obliged to use it. So on Saturday, the check-in procedure is the same whether you have a suitcase to check-in or not.
PS If you are going to Aarhus then it is all very relaxed at the Denmark end.

Alared,
Do you know if this applies to bookings made before today that didn't select onine booking because it previously was chargeable? If so, then great, because I'm flying in a couple of weeks!

All new flights booked from today get charged for checking in at the airport..
In your case, about a week before you travel, Ryanair will send you an advisory email of your flight, you then have the chance to opt to check-in online upto 48 hours before you travel.
This only applies if you just have HAND LUGGAGE.0 -
Thanks Alared, I do just have hand luggage, so if I can check in online it will save a queue!

Although this won't help at all, this kind of thing is why I always choose BA! Ryanair and Easyjet are harrowing experiences, even if they are dirt cheap. The way I see it, when you pay extra for BA, you are paying for peace of mind.Original Debt 08/10/07: £3200
Current debts 28/07/08:
Natwest Platinum CC: £875; Student BarclayCard: £450; Overdraft: £1450
Total: £27750
