Flew with Monarch earlier this week, was told at check in they would be using an plane operated by smartlynx.
Argued I'd expect to transported via Monarch etc etc, was fobbed off that the flight is of equal quality and within their t+c.
Fast forward to the flight, the interior was tired and ineed of update,no issue with crew etc,no IFE either.
I paid top whack for these flights and could have used RR / EJ a far cheaper cost with a more upto date fleet, with no IFE.
Back to the IFE, Monarch advertise they supply an on-board app for access IFE at a cost, can I argue I was mis-lead over price etc??due this not being available for use on the smartlynx plane.
Like I said early RR / EJ were far cheaper we no IFE option.

'Top Whack' for your Monarch flights. Really?
Monarch have introduced an app that you download before flying and to which you can stream a limited selection of entertainment. There is a cost - it is not free.

Surely the lack of IFE on your short haul flight wasn't the end of the world. If you have the need to find something to amuse you for your flight why not plan ahead and down load some TV programmes via I-Player or movies form Netflix.
I bet they loved you at check-in when you dramatised the 'problem'.0 -

Perhaps I've over egged response
My original post indicates the app is at cost.
Put it this way EJ were £120 cheaper, given the possibility of using smartlynx at booking I wouldn't have used Monarch.
I'm looking for a doubtful loop hole to at least get some return.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -
For short haul go with the cheapest option.
My experience of Monarch is one of tired interiors and grumpy crew, so in one respect your experience was better than you might have received otherwise0 -

Quite possibly, aircraft in question was 14yrs old and a little rough inside,no issue with crew or attitude etc.
I've probably answered my own question in terms of RR / EJ cheap and cheerful with a newer fleet.
You live and learn.Official MR B fan club,dont go............................0 -
Oh for gods sake don't you just love wingers, many charter airlines use lease aircraft at peak times, they are still crewed by the airline staff, what does it matter as long as you get your holiday. Monarch use Smartlynk, Thomas Cook use Aivion Express, with an Airbus A320 costing in excess of £70 million do you honestly think they can have spare aircraft just sitting on the ground purely to be used when demand is high?I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Monarch have active aircraft that were delivered in 1999 and a few from the early 2000,s so why be bothered about a 14 year old aircraft, the average age of the Monarch fleet is 12 years and to put it in perspective,American Airlines, Delta and United are flying the Atlantic using Boeing 757s, the last of these was delivered in 2005.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Whinger...thanks
As for the crew, Latvians I think.
You totally missed the point, quite apt for some who hates football.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -

There isn't one.
Lack of IFE, or rather the ability to purchase it, is not a valid claim to make for Compo.
Not all the Monarch fleet are equipped with this technology anyway so even if you were sitting on a Monarch aircraft there was no guarantee you could utilise this paid IFE.0 -

Probably not, and I'm barking up the wrong tree challenging the IFE option.
I'll ponder my next move as I munch thru Tesco own brand cornflakes,i ordered Kelloggs, but Tesco feel fit to supply me own brand ,but charge me Kelloggs price.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -
