I have spent the last  6 hours prepping the stupid floorboards; glueing, shimming, and filling, and  then removing the carpet on the last flight of stairs.  The stupid underlay is so old it is rigid, it cracks and crumbles into millions of black rubber pellets as soon as it is moved.  But now it is gone, out of the house, the stairs have been hoovered 3 times, and all the staples taken out of the woodwork.  My hands are a total mess though.  I don't think I will ever make it as  a carpenter.

I am ready for the carpet fitters, except for the money to pay them, I will have to go to the cashpoint tomorrow morning for that.  DH is planning on fleeing to work to avoid the workmen.  He is very wise.... but has post viral fatigue.

Foodbank was  quite busy today, all things considered, - very warm weather or very cold weather tend to keep clients at home, but today we had a steady stream of people for the whole session. 

One week left until the election. I have the popcorn!

Those jobs just do not get advertised round here! I think they have a happy and loyal regular team to call on.

You just register your interest with the election office of the local council.

I just did, thank you @beanielou .  I have registered before, but they never got in touch.  Will ask DS1 and DS2 to register as well, they could do with £212 for a long day of work!

There is a vegan thing I once had as part of an Olio called ‘faux lox’ or something that was also so delicious I still remember it 
and in googling in (once you get past those hair ads ! (Lox not locks ) I found a same named product but expensive - however not the one I had

I have had some which were just so disappointing I would rather not have bothered, so it was good to find.  Carrot Experimentation will commence this weekend!

Waiting on the ferrety-looking carpet fitter to arrive. Sent DH off to work, and he tried to walk up the stairs to his office.... I patiently explained again that carpet fitters do a lot of stapling and banging.  It is in their nature. They are loud. They would be on the stairs, so it will echo through the whole house like a drum. He should go to his office office. He had forgotten. He has gone.  One less thing to worry about.

DS1 has been a total idiot today and I am ashamed of him, and livid with him, in equal measure.  The Fool!

Took them all for their dentist trip yesterday.   Took DS4 for his eye test this morning.  DS2 cancelled his - Fool!

Carpets are down, they look good.  Sadly the fitters - who were meek and mild in my presence, decided to start spouting White Pride nonsense to DH as soon as I went out. You can't own a flag of England in this country any more type nonsense.  I do hope someone tells all the people with the car window flags, and the pubs with the flags showing the Euros.  The rozzers are going to be terribly busy when the Olympics start and the Union Jacks come out, and they will obviously be arresting all school sports day participants who are divided into Country Teams.  Stupid idiotic man.  Who is filling his head with such poison???

 I did suggest to DH that perhaps Mr Carpet  was regretting his life choices and was hoping to find a friend?    Instead he told him he was talking utter rollocks and he should give his head a wobble.  He said the poor chap looked like he had swallowed his own tongue.  Poor disenfranchised cash-in-hand  man was annoyed about people claiming Universal Credit.   Maybe he should be more worried about all the tax he is not paying by only accepting cash.    The poor flower.  Blimey, it took a long time to calm Mr F-H down.   Luckily he (Mr Carpet), does not vote - what with them all being the same - (eye roll!!).  I do despair sometimes!  Anyway, I can no longer use that carpet company. DH does not want them in the house.  Luckily I only have 2 rooms left to carpet. 

Used up 9 pears and 4 plums into a sponge pudding.  My fruit bowl looks much tidier now.

All the flowers are flowering, even the potatoes have flowered and are starting to think about maybe wilting in the near future. More strawberries have been consumed, but as yet, no passions have flowered.  The nasturtiums have gone bonkers, and are starting to climb the down pipes on the walls and hiding them nicely. Triffids. 

Oh, and those pesky His MRC fiends removed my married person tax allowance from DH on 27th!! I asked them nicely for my £199 refund for my 2 week job, and instead,  they messed up everything!  DH got a message telling him he owed money, and it was because they decided to ignore my pitiful earnings, and unlink us.   He is still going to ring them on Monday to make sure, but he has instructions to tell them they are putting undue stress on his relationship with his highly suspicious wife.  How dare they!

Someone should tell Mr Carpet that those who don't vote have no right to complain.  I have always voted as I do like a good complain.

Oh dear on DS1 … What on earth did he do? Does he understand that what he did was stupid ….?

Re the carpet company - if they are good / you like their products, you could just ask for other fitters. They are often just subbies anayway.
