Thank you one and all for your lovely birthday wishes. I have had a lovely day. The best present was testing negative. But it really is the gift that keeps on giving, cos DH just tested positive . I wore a mask in my own house for two days for nothing!!!!!
Luckily, as I am immune, he still gets to sleep on the big bed tonight, instead of on the sofa, where he has been since Saturday.
Nothing to say he didn't catch it on the trains through Europe or London. But hopefully he will not be too miserable with it.. and he would rather be ill at home, with someone else to cook for him, than alone in his little studio apartment in Swissland.

oops - belated happy birthday FH - and glad all is settling back to normal (whatever that is)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

It is sunny here today, no jumpers necessary! Went out to get some compost for the poor neglected cacti in 'the back roo-oom' to try and coax them back. Bad DH deliberately ignored them because the pots kept falling over, and stabbing him when he tried to help them back up. So he blamed the cacti rather than the too small pot, and sulked.
While I was there I decided to look in the orange sticker section, and spent £16 - I have 6 osteospermum, I huge clump of carnations (that are now called dianthus) 2 oblongs of runner beans, an apple mint, a gooseberry bush, 2 x lupins, 2 x things which are not clematis but look nicer, 6 x chrysanthamums, and another couple of bedding plant wot-nots I can't remember the name of. I am a very successful orange-sticker-plant-shopper. The cactus compost was £5 of that £16. My budget was £16.
DH is upstairs in his study working. He is currently at the 'bad hayfever' stage. He is well enough to be grumping about not having designated 'study coasters for use of while working in his study', he has cancelled his Pr1me membership so he is probably only just going cold turkey and missing his little Amaz0n delivery man-friend. I give him 10 days before he reinstates his membership.
DS3 is looking worried. He is the only one still in danger of catching it......

Well done on the orange-sticker shopping!
Has DH said thank you for all the work you did in his absence creating his new study for him to work in?3 -
I think DS3 was the one who actually brought it home & just didn't have any symptoms.

Wednesday morning in the plaguehouse.......DH is actually pathetic. He is suffering miserably and loudly. It is very sweet, and quite endearing. He is utterly rubbish,
The poor love. Day 3, of Positivity, so nearly half way thorough.
It was a novelty being able to keep the duvet all night while he was away, he must have got used to wrapping himself up like a human sausage roll to keep warm in his lonely bed. He has forgotten his bedroom manners.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Pesky critters reappeared in DS2s room, it really is like whackamole. I must remain vigilant now that am lurgy free again. It seems DS2 has been sanctioned by the job centre.... In March. He says he did not know (he lies). So that should be back on track this week or next. I had to demand access to his laptop, then he hid his phone and pretended not to know where it was in his room (good old 'Google Find My Phone' turns on android phones and makes it ring for 5 minutes - even if it is on silent or switched off). His face was priceless when it started to ring. Made him show me his bank account as well. At least he does not have an overdraft and he is not in debt. The idiot. He is going to need managing. He has totally failed to even try to find a job for 12 months. Now I am going to get more involved, more militantly. Why do they have to lie? More stress, I am so annoyed with him.Apart from that everything is wonderful!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I have a lifetime's supply of bug spray, DH ordered it as well, they both arrived on the same day, so now we have 2 lifetime's worth of bug spray. No excuse now.My tax code has changed online - up until last night they were not going to look at my claim until 19th July - this morning it has changed, so £200 should be refunded in the next fortnight for my 9 days work last month. It will pay for my £190 car tax bill due at the end of the month. In one hand and out the other.Paid my credit card bill as soon as it came in this month. I do not have to wait until payday.Did a quick financial review with DH, as he was complaining about there being another week until payday. He has £15k in various savings accounts. He is putting money away every month, I still remember him worrying about getting his £3k tooth implant, as it was going to wipe out all his savings. So he is fine. He has the saving bug. He is going to voluntarily pay more into his pension. It has the best return. This all comes about because of the funding situation in the Universities, and the news about how many are on the verge of going bust. There have been voluntary redundancies while he was away, and other staff in his department deciding to leave the sector. They are not going to be replaced. He is already getting anxious.Today will contain a lot of cleaning and hoovering and spraying.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

My fuchsia have gone bonkers, they are full of buds just waiting to pop. The passionflower has also thrown out masses and masses of big flowerbuds - last year I had 3, in total, all summer, this year it is going to look amazing when they all bloom.Found Dr F-H outside today talking to a bee. He is suffering, but I know it will only be another couple of days and he will be right-as-rain again. He tested this morning, in the hope he would be negative, but it was not to be. It really is a much milder dose than either of the other two other times he has had it, but it is still psychologically distressing to be so tired all the time. In his head he was coming home to look after me, but I have been looking after him instead. At least this time it is not frightening. He can still breathe, the coughing is much lessThis afternoon, after all the house cleaning and spraying, I made a lovely plum and apple compote with free fruit from the local community fridge, and a big tropical fruit salad with (free) fresh pineapples, (free) kiwis, (free) oranges and a (40p) tin of peaches, lunch was (not)chicken burgers with adulterated coleslaw (extra white cabbage, carrots, and spring onions added to supermarket cheap stuff), and salad, and a quinoa based salad that was utterly dull, but removed the cup of quinoa that had been lurking in a jar at the back of the pantry for about 2 years too long. So it was worth it. Ramping up the salads and fruits, decreasing the refined carbs.I did make a rather good quiche yesterday (whizzed up tofu, sulphurous salt, fried onion and garlic with a 1/4 pack of pretend bacon) with a ys pack of shortcrust pastry from the bottom of the freezer. They were still talking about it at lunchtime today. I made a mushroom and watercress one just before they all fell over with covid. I think I could feed them quiche every week and nobody would complain, and it is so easy to do and ridiculously cheap. With the rest of the pack of pretend bacon, tonight I made them the Irish classic, cabbage and bacon with boiled potatoes. Nobody complained because they had their eyes on the compote and fruit salad. Will make banana doughnut balls tomorrow to use up the bananas before they get too ripe and they reject them on grounds of 'squishiness'.My fruitbowl is going to consist of easy peelers and difficult peelers by suppertime tomorrow..... about 20 of them.... and one lonely lemon called Keith. He is trying to blend in, like that fabulous donkey who is running wild with the Elk in California.
