If he gets the Fellowship then tell him to contact his institutions' comms team, they might want to do a news article about it to go on their website and then he'll increase his chances of being noticed when people (aka other academics) Google his name.

Yes apple, the land of the chocolate glacier  /\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_ .  Turns out the offer was not quite what is seemed to be -  it is mostly unpaid - accommodation and travel paid for, but it would look very good on CVs and he would make even more contacts.  So I have told him to go for it, and I will keep the home fires burning and get on with the house.

 By the time it comes around, hopefully DS1  and DS2 will be employed, DS3 has his GCSEs next summer, but apart from that  there is nothing on the cards.   Well, nothing we know about. .  The house will be getting fixed and finished. Then if anything comes of it, or he gets head hunted, or if he wants to drop everything and go to Canada, or  Oz, or anywhere really,  short or long term, we will be in a position to go.  Ta Dah! 

And.... the sun is still shining! Woo hoo

Prof Foxholes should definitely do that trip; MrCM did one to the land of windmills (for which he paid accommodation & travel from his own budget no fellowship) and it definitely helped with his last promotion.

DS4 was packed away onto the coach on Monday, and if the school social media is to be believed, he is having a whale of a time in a wetsuit.  Job done.

DH has just been dropped at the train station, he is off to the North East. I gave him a lift.

DS2 is home from his Biology exam this morning, feeling confident. 

Thus I am a 4 person family until Friday evening.  It is going to be novel.

There is food in the house, and work to be done outside to finish it all off, and the ground floor to clean and scrub. 

I am trying to work out logistics, I have  2 jobs -one  in the NW, and one, a day later, in the NE - so do I come home to LeShire Saturday morning, lob my clothes in the washer, dry them overnight and jump in my car and drive toward Bradford the next morning - no trains can get me there in time to start on time, or do I fork out for a Saturday night in a hotel, find a laundrette and save myself the driving/travel nightmare but pay out the best part of a day's wages for no stress?

Oh, I went to Mr T's shopping emporium with my birthday loot, and bought 2 chairs - £16 each with cl0bcard.  told the lady I had two, she scanned both labels, two beeps, got the total shopping bill, including a pack of 2 hats for £12, and lots of ys items, total amount £34. Reductions and money off £42  Only one seat appears on the bill.  Oh well, they try and overcharge me every flippin week with their shelf edge prices not being what the till charges.  Shame they no longer do double the discount, even though it still says on the wall they will.  My local Mr T's customer service really is shockingly awful. 

Anyway, I now have two bistro chairs for my bistro table in my nicely painted yard (DH stole the original folding bistro chairs for his camping trips).  It is my project to have finished before DH comes back, ready for a cup of tea out there at the weekend, to admire the flowers on my orphan tomato plants.

Spent the whole afternoon in the yard,  putting up more trellis and coaxing my passiflora to coil all over it.  Painting the bottom three brick courses black, and potting on more flowers. It looks even better still now. Two laundry loads washed and dried. Maybe two more hours and it will be done.
Was on the phone on Monday to ask if my referral had gone through for a mirena. Got told there was a 12-16 week waiting list and I needed to be seen by the consultant so go away and shut up.  Got a phone call at lunchtime. I am booked in next Wednesday. It is opposite S&M so I can spend the rest of my vouchers!  Hooray!  I am working away Thurs/Fri with an overnight stay, so I will hopefully be all sorted for my back to back work in July.   
Feel like I am finally getting somewhere.

Bradford - Leicester isn't actually a bad drive, I do it.  But if you want to pm me the hotel/area I can give you more specific advice.   I have friends Newcastle way and Leicester but not bounced between them as such.   Hotels in Bradford aren't expensive.
