Ugh …. The waiting bit is the worst … I am in a slightly similar position waiting a week on a doctor’s call to discuss my latest blood test results, and no, they won’t tell me what might be of concern …. 🙄
Let’s hope the weather stays lovely to distract us! 😊Sending positive vibes for DS1 that he not only finds a job for the summer but that it might lead into something longer term or create that momentum in him …. 🤞

Oh the inspiration of the first week's pay packet will no doubt enthuse him. That is the nice thing about agency work - it is paid weekly. This Friday coming he will have been home for an entire year...Hiding in his room... Being a total muppet...

Well it has all been car-drama today. No handbrake turns a la The Sweeney, but poor DH's car failed its MOT after he forgot to have it done last month, so could not tax it. The Tax was in his diary, not the MOT (bless), so it failed on a light bulb and a rubber strip, all fixed and home again. My car decided at 8.30 that it would not do reverse.... Or turn, but it would slowly reluctantly go forward. Grrrr,! DH came home from dropping his car at the garage, bullied my car into motion, dropped me at the dentists and took car back to the garage that did the tyre a fortnight ago and asked them to make sure they had not broken it.They fixed it free of charge, greased everything up, did not admit they had done anything, stated they did not think they could have done anything, but that something had been done, that was possible - but improbable- that it happened when they jacked it up, but anyway, my car is now happy to drive without it feeling like the brake is on!Himself was chuntering away about how expensive the month's end was going to be now - advisories on his tyres too - so he went to shunt some money from his savings, when he came in and asked if I had just transferred some money to shut him up - Nope, not me Guv'nor, his Publisher had sent him his advance and not mentioned it
How nice that his first thought was that I had done it? Aw. Got a copy of the letter from The Specialist to my GP. Said she had looked under my bonnet and not found anything, so had sent me for an ultrasound and done biopsies. Well we knew that on the 17th, but nice she sent me a copy as well.A million years ago I was a copy typist for the Job Centre in Smethwick (in triplicate
), always thought it was funny the Job Centre was employing temps as they could not fill the job - well, then they poached the agencies vetted staff and paid them a lower hourly rate but with guaranteed hours. I grassed them up to the agency - of course - there was no minimum wage back then, but they were paying below the normal rate for the work, so it served them right. That was the second time I turned down a job with the Job Centre - oddly the other time was because they did not pay enough as well! They were only offering a starting salary of £7k in 1999. Funnily enough, both times they came to me - I never even filled out an application form. Must've been doing something right!4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

Cars are so flipping opinionated aren’t they! I’m sure mine is just wanting time with our mechanic …. Every so often a weird warning light comes on the dash, I take it to the garage, mechanic just sees the fault and then it disappears 😳 and the most obscure reasons come up on the plug in diagnostic tablet. It’s happened three times now! I am so grateful that the mechanic has just seen the fault or he’d be thinking I was making stuff up! 😂

My car was haunted! When you turned it off after driving, it went whooooooo! Turns out a seal had gone on the engine and that was the noise of colder air being sucked in as it cooled. They had never heard it before and the look on their faces was priceless.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!

my prev car came up with an error on the cruise control when the (prev, now defunct, in hindsight think they were a bunch of rodeo riders) hooked it up to the computer. Which was interesting....given my car didn't have cruise control.KajiKita said:Cars are so flipping opinionated aren’t they! I’m sure mine is just wanting time with our mechanic …. Good news! DH's pension will be restored to its previous level from 2024, so the idiot USS pension people have decided the valuation they did during the 2020 market crash leaving an alleged £14.1 Billion deficit ....no longer exists!! Well where did that go then?? Might they have been trying to pull a fast one?? So DH is slightly more calm, however, on the pay and conditions side of the strike, some Universities have decided that if the lecturers stick to the marking boycott as part of asos (action short of strike) they will withhold 100% of pay. Good job DH has a wealthy wife! It seems to never end! They have money for some tinpot Grand High Wizard vice-chancellor, but not for actually paying the women lecturers the same as men, or to give the less senior or part time lecturers much more than zero hour contracts. Anyway.... Solidarity Comrades!!I find myself waiting for the postman to appear with the patience of a Jack Russell left home alone all day.Half Term begins at 5pm. Can't book to go away anywhere as I am now waiting on The Consultant Appointment or whatever letters and appointments for other tests I get sent. - they can only do an, ahem!... 'Nancy-cam' or an MRI, there is nothing else apart from surgery. So I am driving myself nuts. So far I am bathed, conditioned, shaved, fake-tanned, moisturised and toenail painted... The only thing I have to do is wrangle 3 teenage boys to the dentist after school, and then let them loose on a half term binge of cookies, pastries, and pretzels, and whatever else they have spent their money on.Going totally insane....

In a bid to stop watching for the postman, I have been to the market to get fruit and vegetables. Gone to BaseHome for soil and rescue plants, and taken DH for a cup of coffee ☕. Back home by 10.00.
Non turning up roofer has texted to ask if he can come to quote this morning at 11.00. Then I can pot on my poor unloved and uncared for rescue plants. I have some quite hefty waterlogged lavender plants for £1 that will perk up beautifully with a spot of neglect 😁 and some sad osteospermums and Sweet Williams and various other trailing waifs and strays and nothing cost more than £2. Oh and 2 x £1 tomato plants. They cost the same as 4 large tomatoes. Can't really lose on that one.4/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!
