I rang the booking office a week ago to say that I had had the scan and wanted to know the date of the appointment with the consultant, and was told in no uncertain terms to sit down, shut up,  and wait for them to contact me. Apparently it does not work like that (peasant).
So will ring again after the post has been (if nothing appears) and if no joy, get on to the GP.

Wow … that sounds both rude and unkind of them.

Do you know who your consultant is? If you can track down their secretary and then start ringing daily, politely but persistently, Mr KK found that helped.

  • You can also ask the secretary if they have cancellation list. We have often got in by ringing and asking if they have had any cancellation on the day/week. Good luck

Definitely don't ring bookings/appointments. Secretaries are another matter entirely. They are (generally) helpful. In my case I've been the secretary's patient longer than I have the consultant's (the original one retired) and she has always been incredibly helpful... and has similar issues with the appointments team to the ones I have ;)

Pleased at the positive news F0xh0les, that must be a weight off your mind, but heaven's you'd think they'd bother to tell you more directly.
So are they still investigating what it indeed is now they know what it isn't?

I had a head scan last week - contacted the secretary this week as was kinda expecting some kind of follow up - apparently I get my results in the post and the soonest I can see an actual person is July. Which is faster than the NHS route but goodness, postal results of a CT scan? I assume that anything relevant will be highlighted, or in layman's terms and that I am not going to keel over from anything imminently and if it was urgent, they'd have me back sooner.

So kinda positive but don't you just feel for those not so capable of navigating the labyrinth to get answers. No wonder people just ignore symptoms until it's too late.
