I leave every morning at 6.45 to get to school around 7.30am, it was still pitch dark this morning, I arrived at school and was worried about tripping up on the bumpy section between the car park and the driveway which has no lighting. 
By 8am I had made four litres of hot chocolate and fed it (with mini marshmallows I found lurking in the back cupboard at school because I'm nice) to lots of children together with warm cheese and ham batches and lots and lots of toast - carried on doing this till 8.30am.

At work one was awol, one was C+, one was skiing, one was incapacitated due to a heavy session the night before(!).

So men down all over the place.  Oops!

Another confession - I have just bought a pair of 90x90 velvet curtains (sub £30 with vouchers and coupons) - the reason is, that one will go at the foot of our stairs and stop all the heat rushing upwards, and the other one will go at the front door which is glazed and freezing.  It has been on the cards for years, but just never happened, and then I was in DS2s room this morning - not cleaning-  and I opened his velvet curtains and was hit by a blast of cold, and I thought, why do I not buy a pair with eyelets, use one there, and one over there, and with a cheap telescopic pole, or rejig a pole we already have, see if we can actually get  a downstairs room toasty and warm without the need for candles. So I did.

I think that's a great idea. I put an old curtain behind my front door during lockdown 1 and it's amazing the difference it makes

I have visions of grand entrances down the staircase, pulling back the new velvet curtain a la saucy 1920s/30s cabaret in F0xh0les Manor now

More likely being roughly shoved aside by a  floppy haired, bleary eyed teen in a huge fluffy new dressing gown.  Or being outwitted  by the curtain, and rolling around on the floor, a la Paddington.  I do see a lot of my kids in that bear whenever he is on the telly.  They have the exact same expressions...

Chucking it down here. 2 coffees drunk, (ys) bagel eaten, laundry in the machine but not turned on, recycling done.

Not a day for otter hunting at all, so cleaned the bathroom and did a C test. 

Will repot the houseplants in slightly bigger pots - have stuck my head out the back door and have seen I already have the sizes needed.  DH got 3 plants for Xmas, and 2 need bigger pots (DS1 mentioned they needed repotting at the till and got them half price! - he was very impressed with himself).  I have rejigged the living room a smidge, and it has freed up a bit of space in the back room, which is encouraging DH to tidy his craft and hobby supplies up a bit, which is creating more floor, and things just seem to be working better.

I have a plan to see if the kids' bikes still fit them, and if not,  to offer them on the free offers site, and then ask for the next size up from the free gifting site - most of the people on the  'wanted' site are on the 'requested' site too, and it should remove one more bike than comes in. Then at least they will be set for after Easter when the weather is better.

So plans for today are pretty boring. House admin  nonsense, plant nonsense, keeping warm  - curtains will be delivered Thurs/Fri next week. Hot water bottle Tues/Fri next week.

Shortbread made for millionaires shortbread later on with the FA-CUP, just need to boil up some caramel but the kettle is calling and I am going to have another cup of tea first.

and as I spent £29 on curtains in the big river shop last night, what have I just received from my postal survey whatnot? 

£7 in points to turn into big river shop vouchers.  Grrrrr!  Still, it is all free money.

It always happens that way @f0xh0les - I ordered some new pillows when I thought the sale price was as low as it would get and things were starting to go out of stock. Just after ordering I was sent a code for 10% off sale prices... 

What time do I need to arrive with you to collect my piece of millionaire's shortbread? It's a bit of a trek from Hampshire, but I'm sure it'll be worth it...
