Foxholes, I freeze pineapple rings and then cook them with gammon steaks. This is tinned ones, maybe yours are fresh. No idea if this would work in a cake as I don't bake. The tins are far too big for me, I open a tin when the grandkids have a sleepover as they love pineapple and yoghurt and then I freeze the rest4

that is a very good idea @Paspatur , thank you for that, i never thought of freezing them. These ones are destined for an upside down cake, with 2 blended bananas in the sponge - the 14 banana and blueberry muffins I made last night have been eaten ( except the 3 I hid for tomorrow's lunchboxes) by marauding kids. They had 2 for breakfast, 1 in the lunch box, 2 for after school snack. Then they were gone... pouf! I have snunk fruit into them in the guise of cake!I dropped the kids at school and went off and did the shop (after doing an inventory and meal plan last night)- I had a budget, I had a list, I had an excess, so I got 2 more bouncy pillows and a Festive double duvet cover for DS1's return. Everyone's advent calendar has been stuffed.I should not need to buy anything else this week, unless I want to get something to decorate the house with from the c/s. I have £10 left in the budget from Tues - Thursday midnight. I have the service and mot on Friday and I am terrified (normal state of affairs with my car).DH has bailed on his planned Departmental Xmas lunch, and the drinks afterward on Wednesday. He is very wary of this Omicron variant and even if he catches it and is asymptomatic (being 3 x vaxxed and having his twice post-covid antibodies) he does not want to be a transmitter. I am not sure if he is ever going to be happy in the company of others again.I think I might just be suffering with volunteer fatigue. You know when you can spot a lead-swinger at 50 paces? It feels like that a lot at the minute (and not just with the clients). It is starting to feel like sticking a band-aid on an infected limb -treating the symptoms not the cause. Which is ridiculous now they are paying people to advise, but they do not seem to want to speak to the clients. You can't take a job like this and then think you are above speaking to the clientele. Or wait for a formal introduction and someone to beg you to help them.I need to get a job in January so that I can leave without them trying to guilt me back. Too many people are not doing their job properly and there is a huge disconnect between the paid staff (all new and with no people skills) and the volunteers (who have been doing it for years and can sense who will need the kleenex before they have taken their coat off). There is a Job fair on the 14th January, hopefully (if they pay me this month for last month) I have a week of work lined up 17th-22nd January. Can't go on with this much longer when I know that unless they stop patting themselves on the back and actually roll up their sleeves, nothing is going to change.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I must admit to being a bit conflicted about doing things for charity. I was brought up to believe a labourer is worthy of his hire, but also that doing things for others is a good thing. Then a son of a friend of mine had done something he shouldn't & got caught & ended up doing community service. Somehow he got himself, instead of litter picking, working in a charity shop. Frankly he was shocked, not an easy thing to do with him, at some of the things that were going on & it does make you wonder. Also the ones getting paid always seem to get the pats on the back whilst the volunteers do the work. Not that you do it for the pats on the back but it must grate to see those that DO NOT deserve them getting them.

Fresh pineapple freezes fine, OH bought a spare one home a while ago and I chopped and froze portions to use in sweet n sour. Word of warning though...it does look remarkably like diced swede when frozen which can be a little problematic with meal planning if mixed up (also speaking from experience!)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

There is no shame in needing help, there is only shame in not helping when you could (esp. with no real cost to yourself), or taking something you do not need when other people do need it (but Hey, Why Not! it's free! ha ha suckers! ) . I believe the latter occurs quite a lot in the charity sector.

What with waiting to be paid, coupled with waiting for the delivery of the knock-and-run delivery people, your life is sooo exciting, f0xh0les!

Payroll and expenses are generally unconnected. But I’d be wary of taking more work from someone so bad at paying. They don’t have to wait to run payroll - they can make an exception if they screwed up.3

apple_muncher said:What with waiting to be paid, coupled with waiting for the delivery of the knock-and-run delivery people, your life is sooo exciting, f0xh0les!Yeah! So I decided to climb an unsecured ladder, hang a net of stars in the front window, clean the living room, put red fairy lights in the grate with even more pine cones (tried to have them on the landing bannister last year and it did look like the portal to hell), and dressed the living room for Xmas - put rechargeable lights on the trees for the 2 youngest, so they have scampered off upstairs with their little 3 foot trees and will decorate them later, right now the lights are enough. Put all the dvds away in a box, so they are tidy, found the 2 decorative wreaths, have covered the side tables in festive fabric, tied a ribbon round the diamante iguana ornament, moved a bit of furniture, put the penguins and badgers in the window, and now the room looks a total mess and it will be sorted out properly tomorrow.First a lovely stew and mash that needs to be cooked. It is not exciting, but it is satisfying - so far a strike ballot and a flyer for meat have been the only things to be delivered. Boo!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Is it Unitemps Foxholes? In my experience with UoL casuals and Unitemps any delays related to people not having submitted right to work documents before they employed you which made it very hard to sort out even as a helpful rule bender. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese3
