Finished work tonight, they want me back in January for a week.  So that is good.  Now just need to get paid!

I only had one incident where a chancer was trying it on to get more than he paid for - the easiest way to do that was to claim I told him he could pay for x and y, but in reality he would receive  R,S,T,U,V, W, X, Y, Z, and B.  It was utter nonsense, but there you go.  It must work sometimes or he would still be trying it on at his age!

We only had one nasty person a day, on the whole, and it was split up between all the staff, so we got one each, and never on the same day.

Anyway, I am off to bed.  Night!

My house is literally a tip, I am going to get on with the cleaning tomorrow and sort that out.

Our Xmas party/thank you celebration at volunteering now seems to be turning into a cup of tea, a mice pie, and a presentation about where the charity wants to go next.  Urgh!  I may have to feign an ill child, or maybe the need to urgently donate a kidney. 

Sunday was a lovely day, we did the politics on tv with lovely coffee, I developed 'Government Representative Tourettes'  wonder who will take over from Marr (Andrew, not Johnny)  when he jumps ship to LBC - which I must admit is my preferred radio station anyway.   Then I grabbed himself, and we went out to the local Printworks studio and bought handmade cards for that daft day in December, and looked at all the fab stuff people had been making.  DH is a frustrated artist, he is an artist, but is frustrated that he does not have enough time to commit to it to get as good as he wants to be. 

Anyway, he left the printworks full of ideas and inspiration, and hopefully he will dedicate a bit more time to it, but it will be hard as he is gaming 3 x a week on z00m with friends all round the country.  Still, he can organise his own time, and has 4 other evenings to do it.

I have just realised that although I have a diary for 2022, and have had since July, I do not have a wall calendar, so must get one of those soon.

Anyway I am knackered and am going to bed.  Night all!

Cashed out another £10 on p/a today, made another £2.60 tonight.

I have no idea when I am going to get paid, hopefully before the end of the month, but they were very relaxed and laid back about it all. I just filled in the forms, let them take photos of my passport, and made sure the hours and mileage were right.

I have £54 til the end of the month and just over half a tank of petrol.

Slept in til 8.15 this morning!!  Woke up coughing - very odd.

Still not been paid (boo! I had plans!!), so sat with lovely coffee looking at the snow falling in big sploshy fat lumps - it stuck to the roofs and hedges but not the ground.  All very pretty.  Not going out today - I will go out tomorrow instead. Wet, windy and grey now. 

Soaked my 500g dried tropical fruit mix in rum, and threw in a few dried goji I found in a glass jar in the pantry - we usually use them in a chinese dish with broccoli but in some went - rebel that I am,  and then soaked 500g of dried fruit in brandy, so there are 2 sets of fruit steeping merrily in the kitchen.  There will be cakes-a-baking sometime soon.

Went online last night and booked my booster vaxx for next weekend.

Got the quote for the roof, it has gone up from £6k to £15k.  Chancers!! Will put the job out to tender again. Worst case scenario I will get out the buckets and monitor the situation carefully.

judging from recent experience that my kids and their friends have had, there are a lot of problems in Month 1 and 2 in terms of getting paid being set up properly.  Its almost like employers have stopped caring and leave it to you to sort it out

Will send off an email later on.  The job advert said I would be paid in November, they still have 3 days to sort it out.   It is just annoying that if it says on the website if you submit your time sheets by Monday, and they run payroll on Wed, you get it paid  into your bank by 6pm on Friday, and then it does not appear...    but I refuse to spend money I do not yet have.

From what I've heard of trades everything has hiked in price,  and that's even if they can get the materials. 
We had some work done in the house earlier this year and when I went to view before fitting the guy was telling me if I'd booked the job now, it would've been twice the price.
OH has heard tradesmen in the pub saying the same thing , that materials have gone up so much that they not only don't know how to price jobs now as people just say it's too expensive, but prices are going up so fast almost as soon as they're quoted, the cost to buy has gone up
It's largely to do with a latent effect from last year. Suppliers had some safety stock levels in the pipeline which meant when CV hit and production was affected, they could hold their prices. But they've burned through all that inventory now and not only are logistics up the spout, labour is still affected and now in China the gov have imposed electricity consumption restrictions on factories. All extending lead times even more. 
In other words, the supply chain is a total !!!!!! show.

 I asked them to reuse the slates on the roof, instead of buying it in ( the slate is sound, the nails are shot), so they quoted for man made tiles instead. £6k to £15k for an inferior product and blamed the price rise on scaffolding and skips. 

They do not want the job, they should just say so. They have mucked me about for months now.
