YHA Treyarnon Bay does 5 beds (one is a double )  I think that they are slightly flexible when smalls are quite small - I seem to remember them being happy with the idea of small kids not counting as 'people'  when mine were smaller, but the 5 beds are from £39 a night for the room, -plus they do camping onsite,- you can still  use the indoor facilities,  and they have camping pods onsite as well..  You could always ask if you could pay for the extra bunk in the shared dorm and not use it and they will probably decide to waive it. If you show willing they usually accommodate (ha ha!) you.  Plus you get 10% off the website prices as a member .  That one is one that is always included in the sales.

Lots of lovely ys things last night. so the fridge is jammed full of salad leaves, chinese leaves and beansprouts, cucumbers and strawberries.  Passion fruit, pears and plums filling the fruitbowl.  Plenty of meat-free chunks and burgers (and spinach obv) currently nestled in the freezer- nothing will be bought until next Monday now.  

Plenty of 17p fizz and vanilla yoghurt for the teens.

I am expecting a grumpy and slightly argumentative man today (dh -not a mystery man) as the promotion panel sits tomorrow and he is getting antsy.  I will try and get him out for a little run later on before lunch (it makes him sound like a dog).

As predicted I had to take DH out for a run, he abandoned me and DS3 and went bouncing off around the park one extra time (bad boy) so I told him off cos last time he decided he was fine and could just launch into a 5k run with no build up he ended up very quickly totally crippled with shin splints... for months...... Anyway, we went, we ran, we came back. DS3 is delighted as he has never been able to run 3k before. 

Unearthed the old Ex-Box games and ;broken' controllers, so the 2 smallest have been yelping with delight for every controller we fixed so they can be used, and every game that is not scratched to hell and back.  It did mean that I lost the living room as they took it over, so went and decluttered 2 more boxes (not many left now!) and all the stuff sorted and put where it was supposed to be, or into a pile for rehoming / recycling. So plenty more stuff sorted, then salt and pepper aubergine and stir fried beansprouts and water chestnuts for tea,  with Eton mess for afters.  Only used 5 aquafaba meringues, so I have enough left over for a cherry yoghurt / Eton  mess mash up tomorrow as well.

Love it when you can cook once and eat twice.

I think I am going to go cleaning mad tomorrow.  The weather is supposed to be good, so I can get all the beds changed and laundered  and dry by the end of the day.  Might as well hoover and clean the house too.

If I have time I will make a tip run to get rid of all the stuff that has no home here. 

Urgh, just went upstairs to referee another pointless bedtime spat, and the kids have trashed their rooms again.  Typical.

It might be worth asking YHA if they would allow an extra, it's nice to hear they are accomodating  Do they email about the deals, or is it best to keep a lookout on the website? We love Treyarnon Bay beach, we have stayed nearby the last 3 times we have been to Cornwall. The road to the hostel/beach is quite nerve-wracking for a big car though 

Hope tomorrow goes well for your DH. Does he have to attend the panel (because that does sound rather nervewracking!) or do they let him know afterwards?

Do you have a recipe for aquafaba meringues by any chance please? I was staring at the non vegan version in Lidl earlier and was really tempted by them but was valiently trying to stay in budget so left them. I have tins of chickpeas & sugar (and an electric whisk) but not sure what else I need or how long to cook them for...

No he does not have to attend the panel, but he was looking through how long it took his mate to find out, and for some bizarre reason there was a 3 week wait between the decision being made, and him (his mate) being told.  He is like a kid waiting for Santa. Can't concentrate, can't sit still, just plain antsy. Nerves I guess, but he deserves it. Says his #1 fan and cheerleader.

@taka   Aquafaba meringues - makes 6 fist sized meringues (they do expand a bit when cooked and cooled) This means that one tin of chickpeas will do 18 odd meringues - they do keep well for a couple of days in a close lidded container, but the juice only lasts about 72 hours in the fridge before it starts fermenting - but it makes all kind of stuff -like mayonnaise and cake batter, and even more meringues.

Recipe

6 tablespoons of beanjuice -

1/4 TEASPOON cream of tartar

100g granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract/ almond extract  - not necessary but nice if you are making a big batch - mix it up and experiment

Put your oven on Gas Mark 2 or 130 on a fan overn

Aquafaba + cream of Tartar in a bowl, beat til stiff and glossy - add sugar  a tablespoon at a time, whip til stiff peak bung in a bit of flavouring, or split the mix in half and do 2 flavours,  (in my 1960s Kenw00d the whole thing takes around 4 minutes) stick it in a piping bag

pipe onto greaseproof paper covered baking tray - one big one or small ones or whatever shape you fancy.

Now the magic - put in the oven for 45 minutes, turn the oven OFF after your 45 minutes and walk away -

DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN DOOR FOR ONE HOUR

Open oven door, and make happy squealy  noises - feel utterly smug -  consume.

Can you freeze the bean juice?
When I make meringue instead of nests I often put small blobs of meringue on the baking sheet as I find it helps with portion control.

The size of the meringue is very important in our house.  One nest is a portion.  Not a problem. Everyone agrees, but conversely 100 blobs seem to be a portionfor teenagers,  as it can be hidden in the mouth, like a cartoon cat with a canary, so it does not count, so if I make small ones, I have to hide them. I do not like having to hide food.

And yes, you can freeze aquafaba. and you can freeze aquafaba meringues too. Open freeze individually and then ziplock bag 'em with a piece of clingfilm/greaseproof to separate them.  Take out as required.

For some unknown reason, the 2 smallest cannot remember the word meringue, and insist on calling them Macrons.

I can only put it down to the news being on permanently here,  that they are so aware of other world leaders.
