I cannot see how any school can maintain social distancing. Only have half the pupils come to a lesson? Have a schedule of who can move in the (probably far too narrow) corridors? And how about getting the pupils to and from school? And feeding them at lunch? And I salute the school that doesn't have a rebellion on its hands when all breaktimes are cancelled!

As it is not supposed to overly affect the younger members of society, I think they would go for the 'throw them all in a sack together and give it a good shake' strategy. I have no idea when the schools will go back, but I do know that I saw a lot more of DS1s ankles than the day before, DS'2 seems to be growing daily, DS3's bedroom suddenly smells sweaty and of feet (and his attitude suddenly blows goats), and I need to shave DS4's undercut back in.I have scrubbed the rest of the kitchen floor, moved a large shelf into the kitchen, moved a smaller one out, cleaned the kitchen to within an inch of its life, and all the worktops and countertops are clean, and clear. It looks much better in there. I will give the floor another once over tomorrow I think. Washed the dust off all the tea pots and coffee pots and sugar bowls. My hands are like sandpaper though.I finished one book, and plan on starting another tonight. 2 loads of laundry line dried. My back aches and I am looking forward to being out of the house for 3 hours in the morning. Even if it is only lugging boxes about the place at the f/b.I got £30 from £co cashback from the car insurance today. Transferred it into my bank account. It will do one pair of enormous canoe-sized school shoes. I have a £5 4maz0n voucher due today as well. Will save it for when I need more Henry dust-bags or something,The house does look a lot better with all this cleaning, and the furniture works better the way I have it now, but it is so boring, and it takes so long to sort it all out....I think I am actually boring myself. Oh well, if I bore myself to death, at least they will find my body in a clean house with a well thought out floor plan.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

At least they will be able to wheel you out easily with sensibly organised furniture f0xh0les
Yes I can see younger ones being sent back first, esp as they will be the ones needing the most childcare with the older ones ( in theory) a little more self sufficient. We shall see.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

God knows what will happen with schools but I can state with absolute certainty that there will not be social distancing happening in schools at any point. Clearly the government have never seen me squash 34 kids into a classroom with space for 28 kids. I wonder if us teachers will get PPE... It's no real worry as kids tend not to suffer, but they really do spread stuff round very well. I have no issue with going to work and doing my job, but I have issue with 'germ sharing' something like this with over 1000 kids.
Sorry f0xh0les - I'm ranting on your diary... will rant more on my own.

Cat - you've expressed perfectly what I meant to say! It's not about the pupils catching it, it's the spreading of it that would inevitably happen. Anyhow, we have another 3 weeks not at school for now.

Which takes us utterly conveniently up to when? I hear you ask (yeah, I'm hearing voices again). Why it just so happens to take us up to (wait for it......) The VE Day long bank holiday weekend of flag waving and Vera Lynn. Coincidence? Peut-etre But more likely, probably not.You can rant on my diary as much as you like. At least we know we are off until at least the 10th of May.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I would love to see a teacher try to impose a 2 metre physical distancing between 8 year olds. My father (over 60 yrs ago) used to struggle to stop them from giving him nits. So the kids may be fine in school, but what is going to happen when all the teachers are off sick? Because by the time they have done a half term they will be falling like nine pins!

DS1 and 2 have not been out of the house for a month now. Not even the back yard. DS3 & 4 go out 2 or 3x a week for a bike ride/ scooter ride and quick football game in the park. They do Joe Wicks outside a couple of mornings a week. I am not stressing about it. I do feel like the worst mum ever though. Nowt like 24/7 parenting to make you feel inferior.
