Tonight I either win the best mother in the world award, or the worst.  Not sure. The jury is still out on that one, but DS3 had a lot of questions about epidemics and viruses and how they mutate, so we watched Outbreak, which is a fab film, and he seems happier about viruses,  anti-viral medicines,  new viral infections, and how they jump species and mutate.  I might have just created a scientist.   It was that or a zombie film, but he is only 12.

Plus there was a helicopter chase and there was more science in it.  He has gone to bed much happier, and no longer wants a pet monkey.  Bonus!

F0xh0les its a shame DS1 and DS2 can't have their work recorded on audio and you can just stick headphones on them and hope they take it in when they are asleep. 
3 week shut down wilk ensure wallys aren't all out over the Easter Bank Holiday,  though its a bank holiday in the uk...it's going to rain surely 

Mog has an eye infection,  consult over the phone and photos, actually much easier than shoehorning her into her basket and taking her down there for something like that, though at £70 it was a bit like phoning an 'adult' line 

I need to get into a routine and sort out some exercise again, i was supposed to be away this week working so would've missed my usual class anyway but can't use that excuse for ever. It's a little hard to get motivated again as i was only a few weeks away from the big races i was training for, which are now cancelled or postponed...determined not to lose momentum though and might set myself some mini challenges if races aren't on for a bit.

There has been no mention of the VE day celebrations being cancelled and the bank hol weekend either.  The war films have started on the telly already.

Mind you, the school has not mentioned the residential being cancelled ds4 is on that week either.  I really don't want to take a £300 hit for that.  DS3 mentioned something in passing that it might possibly be rescheduled for the autumn term, but I would like a bit more than a 10 yr old's word on that,  maybe I dunno, a letter home or an email or something?

Today I feel like Captain Evil, all I am doing is telling the kids to do their homework. Have you done it yet? Is  it done? Have you nearly finished?  Is there much left to do? What do you mean you have not even started yet???? It is 6pm!!!  I am sick of the sound of my own voice.  I would have spoken less, but I am hassling 4 separate people.

Aarrrgh!  I hate this!  The 2 smallest have done it.  The two oldest are awful. 

I want to crawl into a hole and cry.  My kids are just not frightened enough of me. What can I threaten them with..... being grounded?  Removal of limbs?  They need the poxy internet to do the work on......

And dh is continuing to lose weight - now 3 lbs lighter than me - AND he gets to eat more than me.  I am hungry. I am sad. I am hormonal, and I am jealous.

have you got a good set of ear plugs f0xh0les? go round banging a saucepan tomorrow morning until everyone is up and has done their required work, if the older ones haven't but you are still banging the younger ones pestering might help to prompt movement? (send DH off to 'work' aka a shed first) when I had to help with my cousin who didn't want to get up I used to start making the bed around her which usually got her shifted pretty quickly

Big virtual hugs from a safe virtual distance f0xh0les. you're doing your best under really difficult circumstances. Can you bribe them in some way like earning snacks for working? or removal of games consoles if they don't? 
I'm sure they are not the only ones treating it like some long holiday, i feel for the teachers when they go back.

Maybe the school are waiting for the residential place to cancel and refund them? And maybe the residential place are waiting' to see what happens'...?

Lots of love f0xh0les. I don't envy you - I have 1ds and it's hard enough kicking hid backside to get anything done. It's no comfort whatsoever for you I know but I see it a lot in teenage boys. I have no answer of how to motivate them because the answer is often 'nothing'.

Sending you hugs @foxholes Have you spoken to OH, when he isn't working to come up with a joint strategy.

Could you take away their games consoles, phones etc until they have done the work?

I have been taken advantage of today. 

Can you come in for a while at 9am?   does not mean 5 hours,  while paid workers lean up against a wall  yapping about how much work needs to be done.  Very annoying. 

Came home via the c00p, MrL's  1celand, and Her0n. So now the kids have chocolate. The fruit bowl is full, the fridge is full of salad, and I have managed to hunt and gather an amazing 10 litres of plant based milk.

The kids I fear have done nothing.  I need to pull on my jackboots tomorrow.  Today I simply cannot be faffed.

I am going to have something to eat - I  finally got my tiny lunch at 3pm (ds1 had decided to have seconds and had eaten most of mine) - have a lovely hot bath - I am flippin freezing all the time now, no weight loss,  but I can feel my waistline shrinking -  and write lists for tomorrow.

Got 2 loads of laundry line dried.

I suck as an educator.
