  • Fox - you have the patience of a saint with your whole family. I think I may have switched the WiFi off on Hubby if he'd done that.

Do you ever go away as a family? Sounds like camping in a field, devoid of electronics, may help him remember he has 4 children.

Whenever we go away (usually one weekend a year) he goes to bed at 7.30. I fear he may have sleeping sickness. The sitting in the living room with his earphones on watching n3tfix on his laptop is getting me down though. I don't want to upset him , while he is feeling low, but he is not making much effort with me and the kids, and to be honest never really has. I am not sure he enjoys being a dad, he thinks we are too silly for words. I suppose laughter never rang freely over the supper table in his house.

I may have mentioned the selfish gene runs strongly through his family.

    Blimey what a day!
I thought I would print out my tickets a week early, and thank goodness I did. Instead of it being from England to Ireland to England, it was the other way around! How on earth I managed to do this I do not know. So I cancelled the tickets, (lost £6) and rebooked through the cashback site (£24) and could not find a night ferry at all. So had to book a day ferry over (£68 cheaper) which is going to mean leaving my house at 4am, driving to Liverpool for 8.30 and loading onto the boat at 9.30 for sailing at 10.30. We dock at 6.30pm. I have told the kids we are going on a cruise. So all in I am £90 up on the previous tickets, and I booked the same dates on the way back as I had before (or thought I had!). Then checked the current sailings information, and all the night sailings seem to be cancelled this week due to a technical fault onboard. Anyway, I am off on Sunday morning now, instead of Monday afternoon, and back as scheduled. Thank all the gods I printed the tickets and read them. I have booked this trip twice a year for the last 10 years, and always use the quick book sidebar, so I cannot understand how this went wrong.

Just as I noticed this error, DH asked me to take him to the station, so I did, and just over three quarters of the way there, the road was closed, no entry, so he had to hop out, and run off down the pavement in the teeming rain. He did catch his train, so that was fine, but only just. Blocking off the road to the train station with no signs on the road, is not a good idea!!

Rang the Dr this afternoon for an appt for DS1, I asked if they had anything on Friday after 1pm, they said yes, he has an appointment with a named doctor at 3pm. I know a lot of people complain about the NHS and getting an appointment, but you know I have never had to wait for over a week for an appointment. I think a little politeness to the staff goes a long way sometimes, I have seen those receptionists take a heck of a lot of abuse. It is a fiendishly busy surgery, with a sit and wait session Mon-Fri, so if you get there before 10.30 any morning, they guarantee you will be seen in morning surgery before 12.00. I still know a lot of people who complain about it though. It works really well for me. All hail the NHS!

All hail the nhs indeed f0xh0les. They've certainly saved my (ds) bacon this week - it's SO frustrating how underfunded they are, and amazing what good they can do on the money they have. However, I have been trying to get dd an appointment for weeks now and I can't, which is more frustrating - it's not an emergency but she does need to see a doctor.
Sorry about your hubby as well - the older I get, the less convinced I am in men generally - it seems more common for them to be selfish, and I suspect it's an evolutionary thing (my sister must know more about this). Lots of love to you - it's hard being the grown up and not getting the support that you should.

Quiet old day today. The kids point blank refused to go shopping, so they had a sandwich for lunch and tomato pasta for tea. Nothing fancy at all. Now the fridge is quite bare, and there is no ice cream in the house. I feel shopping is on the cards for tomorrow.
Today all the lovely money hit my account. It has stayed there as the bills go out tomorrow. :rotfl:

I feel sick about driving at 4.30 on Sunday morning. I need to get to Liverpool for 9, but I am paranoid about missing boats (due to my parents missing every boat, train, plane and bus going when I was a child) and kids needing to stop to pee. It should only take two and a half hours, but I don't think it has ever taken me less than around 4. I am just rubbish. Either way I am not missing that sodding boat. It is only 120 miles on a Sunday morning. What can go wrong?:rotfl: The Satnav sends me in a ridiculous route every time, so I have mapped it out and it is A50/A500/A51/A41 no matter what that satnav madam says. You know the one time I leave just enough time, there will be roadworks all the way, or driving rain, and I will miss the boat. So I'm leaving plenty of time and just going for it. I am not a confident long distance driver but I am safe. So there. But still, 4am??? Horrific.

So I need to hoover and tidy DHs car,or step-gran will chunter, if she even manages to get into it. She did not last year, was too unsteady on her feet. But it needs cleaned anyway, as does mine, which is dire. So I am just rounding up bits and bobs to pack, checking the airbeds for punctures, and writing a shopping list of foods to take with me. It all feels incredibly rushed right now.

DH comes back tomorrow afternoon, DS1 needs picking up Friday lunchtime, then taking him to the Dr, he says he has found a pea sized lump on his testicle, so he can get that checked out.
Everything seems to be happening at the same time, I just need to get through these bits. I find I say that a lot, I just need to get past ***** and then it will be better, and then something else pops up. But that is just my life right now. There is always something else waiting just around the corner.

There are lots of things that can show up as lumps on his nuts. Very few are cause for concern. Well done him for telling you (I was going to say raising it decided not to)
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Thanks, but I shan't tell him you said so!:rotfl:

I told DH, and he just said, oh, he needs to go to the drs then, and went off to work.

I should ask for a full job description. I already tell the kids I won't pick up their dirty clothes from their bedroom floor, as they do not pay me enough for that service.

Maybe they will both miss me when they are the only 2 in the house. They might bond, and plait each other's hair, and paint their toenails. Unlikely, but possible. DS1 is a lovely boy really, and DH has to realise he is no longer a kid, and needs to spend a bit of time with him before he disappears off and learns to adult from someone else. I think the main problem is that everyone in this house treats DH like the much loved family pet.
