    Holy Crap!
The house across the road from us has just come up for sale this week. It is a similar layout - but worse than ours, smaller and narrower. It is on for £115k more than we paid for ours 3 years ago, and is being sold as a student rental investment. Will be very interested to see a) how fast it sells, and b) the actual price it sells for.

I could cope with walking away from here with nearly £200k as a deposit.

Motivation for finding me a builder and getting some jobs done.

I managed a trip out to the supermarket with ds3&4 and used my free £5 voucher, and then took DS2 to the dentist - back to 6 monthly visits (from 3 monthly until the lazy swine started brushing his teeth properly) so that is good. The cupboards are full again, DH has come home early claiming he is coming down with a cold. I have looked through the diary and seen what is coming up, and I am on top of my postal survey thing, and will be all caught up with my postings by Thursday. Just in time for GCSE results

I saw an advert for the GBBO today, so am looking forward to that starting. At least I can keep on baking, and eating scones whilst watching the multiple car crash that is Brexit, the cars just keep on piling into the back of the ones before them.

I must ask where Mr C0rbyn is going to get all this money from he is promising everyone and his dog today, after renationalising the railways, the power utilities, the water companies and the post office, and making it free to study at college and university whilst raising the minimum wage.

If I made promises like that to my kids, I would get the 'yeah, right' eyebrow raise and a shake of the head.

Mr Corbyn is probably getting it from the same place B0ris is getting it from - you and me. expect with Mr Corbyn you stand a better chance of ever seeing any of it back rather than it trickling up
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

The University sector will crash. Numbers are down this year already . Rang DH while Mr C was giving his speech and started on abolishing tuition fees. Job security is non-existent. It will be interesting to see what is going to happen.... we are living in interesting times.

I am feeling antsy today. The kids do not want to go anywhere or do anything that does not involve thumbs and keypads. This means I am at a loss as what to do.

All my peri-menopausal symptoms have disappeared. No hot flushes, nothing. Which is rather jolly, so I have started on liquid iron supplements just to give me a boost in case that is an option (there are quite a few menop/anemic crossover symptoms) and I had bought it for dh who refused to take it. Can do no harm, so why not and it is another thing used up.

2 kids have cleaned and tidied and hoovered their bedrooms, I have issued the royal proclamation they may have a PJ day - still young enough to find not getting dressed 'AMAZING'.

Today I am making broccoli and cheese soup for lunch (I have ys part bake rolls in the freezer) and scones for afternoon tea. The bathrooms will be scrubbed to within an inch of their scabby lives.

Living room to be tidied, and the attack on the back room shall continue.

I feel like spending an obscene amount of money - I need a new bedbase and mattress, sofas, fridge freezer, cooker and hob, shower, bathroom, the whole house carpeting, woodworm treatment and damp proof course renewing. Aaarrrrrggghhhhh! I think being away for 11 days has allowed me to see all the stuff that needs doing, and the money sitting in my bank account to do it (mostly). The problem is that the kitchen needs doing as well, and it would mean doing the jobs twice if I don't do the kitchen and bathroom at the same time.

I am an impatient madam. I feel restricted and constrained. I think I need a throwaway 0 hrs contract job just to feel like I am contributing and doing something to save money quicker.
I did announce that I would be looking for a job when the kids go back to school in September when I was in Ireland. It went down like a lead balloon. There was horror on step-gran's face and she lurched down to her room for 10 minutes. How on earth have I painted myself into this corner?
Anyway, there should be Xmas jobs coming up soon...

I have one birthday in September, two in October, and one in December to plan for, plus the C word. The mortgage statement is generated just after the C word as well. I love my annual mortgage statement. It proves I am doing something well.

Then 2 x car insurance the first week of January, and the last birthday the first week of February. So Sept - Jan are the spendy months of the year, and Feb-August are the savey months. So saving is coming to a slowdown now. I still have no debt, the credit card is paid off, and I have currently got £8.5k in savings, and a hamster.

DS1 has still not got himself a bank account, nor seems to be looking for employment. He will be 17 in 2 months. He says he wants to find a job, well he will not find it in his bedroom! Kids eh? Bof!

Tooth is behaving itself quite well, The foot is annoying, I have caved and made a paste of baking soda and water and made a drawing solution and covered it in a bandage. Being slightly dim, I have been walking on it, and of course it is not going to come out if I keep doing that, so I staying off it, and I have fallen back on chemistry and physics (or witchcraft, either or)

The broccoli soup was absolutely gorgeous even if I say so myself. If I had gone to a restaurant and got that, I would be delighted.
So an evening on the sofa watching The Repair Shop and wishing I was crafty.

This bit of glass is seriously doing my head in now. I have kept off it all day apart from when I was cooking the kids lunch, and I had a really hot bath, in the hope that would shift something, but all it has done is made it more painful to stand on - maybe that means it is working its way out? I don't know. Poxy thing.
Tomorrow is GCSE results day, I am a mess, ds1 is chilled and relaxed (like Shaggy in Scooby doo - Zoicks!).

Watched Greg Wallace inside the mattress factory last night. I am now utterly convinced on the benefits of us having a new mattress. The only question is do we go Kingsize again, or SuperKing?

Have you tried wearing a corn plaster over where the glass went in, just so you aren't pressing on it so much when you walk? I had a crescent slither go into my foot years ago as I pivoted on the foot in the kitchen. All I remember is that it did eventually work its way out on school sports day weeks later, when I was running the triple jump and had to show the younger kiddies how to do it. I got home v sweaty and as I peeled my sock off, there it was! Maybe book yourself a dr appt and hope that by the time it arrives, the glass has come out by itself...

Hope ds1's results show that he did indeed 'ace' it, as he'd planned...
