3 of my boys adore parma violets, which is just obscene. I try and find 'old lady' chocolate flavours around Xmas time - so violet creams, orange creams, geranium, all that jazz. They love them. They are just not right. :D

I have seen Violet gin, which I assume is like parma violets dissolved in gin. Bleurgh!!! Wrong, wrong, wrongety wrong.

I have plans this week (wanna hear 'em?) I am putting up shelves in DS3's room, I found the brackets I bought last year (oops!) and I have blue mdf that was once his cabin bed, which just took up too much space and made his room look smaller - plus the drawers were trashed to hell and back within 12 months, so it has become building materials. I can make a good 4 or 5 thin shelves of differing lengths for him, so they are going to go up this week and it gives him a space to display his whatnots. I just need to get on with it. I am also going back to trawling the charity furniture shops. There are still a few bits which would make rooms look better, but I am actually frightened of spending money - which is daft, but true.

I need to plant some seeds, I have the seeds, the makeshift pots, and the compost, I just need to get on with it.

I have a sewing machine, fabric, and plans. I just need to get on with it.
We are back down to only having 6 glasses. I think the kids must actually eat them. I had 12 in October at half term.

I do not have anything to look forward to though. I don't have anything nice planned. I need to get on with that, but I am still slowly being drip-fed DS1s GCSE exam dates and the teachers are pushing the holiday study sessions they have planned.

Had a parents evening with DS1 last week, and all his teachers adore him, he is getting a minimum of a 7 in everything, and he can only pull himself upwards, with a few teachers thinking he will get a 9 if he can work on his time management of exam papers, which is something that only practise can give him. So all good on that front. More workbooks ordered for him to practise on.

DS2 however hid his parents evening from me. I only found out after the fact. I am very annoyed with him. If there was an 'issue' then I am sure the school will have told me about it, but I feel he is just attending, rather than participating. He has chosen his GCSEs, filled out his form himself after discussing it with me, and his brother, so let's hope that dropping the subjects that mean nothing to him will focus him on things he does enjoy. Kids! arghhh! x 4!!!
So, March has a plan... £500 in the renovations fund (more to add next week), and I have nearly two whole shelves lying empty in the living room to be filled with books, and 4 candles left to burn.

Now I just have to get on with it!!

Ugh, violet gin _pale_ why would anyone di that to gin, saying that I also think that of a hubba bubba flavoured gin I've seen, I mean I felt you're still chewing hubba bubba you're prob not old enough to drink gin right?

Great plan with the shelves, last ones 'we' (I) put up (me and OH have agreed we do not work well at DIY together ... I'm a control freak aka want it done properly, he wants it done as quickly as possible) so I ended up doing the shelves....it took me a week (they were floating ones with multiple screws required which kept ending in the wrong place despite hammering pilot holes) but my goodness...they are laser straight :D

Naughty DS2 hiding parents evening, I would never have dared do that (though there was one my mum came back with from my a-levels where I wished I had...I didn't really apply myself as in the first week our form teacher told us her 'predicted' a level grades for us based on our GCSE results, I was told B-C grades...despite havin A* and As in the subjects I was taking and mostly A's in the others. So I figured if the teachers thought I couldn't get top grades based on that, why should I bother trying. Prob not the most mature approach in hindsight but surely teachers are supposed to encourage pupils that they can achieve their best, not tell them they won't?)

Right, must crack on too, someone is supposed to be collecting a drill from a selling site later (we upgraded) ....we shall see I found they turn up.

Shhhhhh! There is someone in the cannabis house next door.
Someone came by on Thursday and put the bins in the front garden, then on Friday when I was taking the kids to school, there was someone in there, as the front door was wide open. Then, after having barely slept all night (I now wonder if it was because I heard someone moving around), there is someone in there clearing out all the carpets, and wood, and god knows what else, as the police told me the house had been stripped back to bare floorboards and duct piping with nary a door left inside there.

So, hopefully they are starting to tart up to sell so they can be criminals somewhere else. I am sick of the slightly open windows through the house - possibly to try and clear the smell, but it just screams I am an empty house come and squat in me and the whole thing of vans pulling up and filling the bins under cover of darkness and disappearing again is doing my head in. There are lots of bangs and crashes going on, it sounds like they are filling buckets with rubble in there, which will be slow going, as the electric has been disconnected so whatever they are doing they are going to need battery powered tools.

Stressful! But hopefully I will have neighbours again soon who are not criminals.

Poor DH was very unhappy with all that windy weather yesterday. He was convinced the roof was going to come off last night. Annoying man. He still says the roof is not a current concern, until it is windy, and then he sits at full clench on the sofa going 'oooooh!' every time there is a gust of wind down the chimney.

The kids' regular savers accounts mature in 3 weeks, so I get my emergency fund back - £3,200 to drip feed back in.

Did the shopping list stuff this morning, brackets for shelves, a few more plates and side plates and drinking glasses, last bits of food shopping, and did one turn around the park on the way back (1km) at a brisk walk.

The kitchen looks like a bomb has hit it. I need to do something about this, but I am having trouble finding my motivation now. Time for lunch (an assortment of random weekend leftovers), and cleaning the kitchen, as I am an adult and need to get over this anxious feeling I have about all the noise from next door

I don't think I knew about the cannabis house f0xh0les - all sounds very interesting (and not necessarily in a good way either). Hope it gets sorted soon and you get some lovely new neighbours.

It was way back on page 15 CCL. The house next door has been empty pretty much ever since, after the police raid, then they broke back in, then the strange night about 9 men appeared for one night, then the house was raided by immigration the week afterwards. All quiet and very empty ever since. DH seems to think they are doing the electrics in there. It would need it! But they watched me from an upstairs window every time I left the house today. Silly !!!!!!s don't seem to understand sound travels through open windows, so I can hear them, and I look up and there they are, with their woolly hats, looking down onto the street. :(

Today I did lots of good things, tackled quite a few jobs on the list, got an awful lot done.
Tomorrow is shelf putting up day in DS3s room, and that is his room finished until he decides I need to redecorate (probably next week, knowing him:rotfl:)

Right, I am knackered as I have slept appallingly badly since Thursday, for no discernable reason, so I shall indulge my girl-crush on Victoria Coren Mitchell and watch Only Connect, and confuse the heck out of DH by knowing loads of totally random pointless stuff:rotfl:. Early night I think, I just hope I can sleep:(.

    Morning!
Twits next door have managed to smash one of the top windows at the front of the house - only single glazed, to be honest it is probably insurance fraud. They sit in the window watching me going in and out of the house, so now I have taken to waving cheerfully. I cannot change school run times. Feeling observed....

Gas and Electric readings due today - still need to mess with outside gas meter box.
Feeling resentful this morning, no idea what time DH got home from his jolly last night. I went to bed at half ten and was sound asleep when he got in.

DS4 was out at a friends house last night to play, and rolled home at half seven, and within 15 minutes there was screaming and shouting on the landing - DS3 had missed him, and of course the best way to show that is to start a fight and wish that his brother had never come home. If he had not asked every 15 minutes when DS4 was coming home, and raising the bottom of the curtain to look, and asking what the time was, then I would not have realised he was missing him, but he was. Mind you at one point or another each kid asked what time DH was coming home. They don't even notice when I am not here. Bah!

Anyway, a tip run is on the cards this morning, rock n roll! The house is looking good well into the kitchen/dining room for the first time ever!! I have finally moved beyond the back room of doom.

    Right, on with the day................
