Landlord's Obligations - Electricity Installations

I read the OP that it's working. It should be fan-assisted, and the fan's not working, but that doesn't mean the oven doesn't work. The oven temp markings have gone awol, but that doesn't mean the oven doesn't work.
This is correct. The landlord eventually admitted that he knew the fan didn't work. The lack of markings make the use of the oven a bit of a lottery, but it does still perform a function! The good news is that the landlord has now agreed to replace the oven & microwave (they are both built in to the wall). Perseverance pays off I suppose, but it also wears you down

When I was replacing the missing ones in the house my son had bought Kidde Firex offered 3 versions of the same mains alarms - 9v block battery, lithium 9v block and sealed rechargeable battery (KFxx, KFxxLL, KFxxR) . My local council install the sealed battery units because you can't remove them.Yes, I can well believe smoke alarm manufacturers recommend you give them more money every ten years.
I've never heard of a "sealed battery" smoke alarm - every single one I've ever seen has had a 9v battery, either as the primary power source or as a back-up for mains.
thesaint - Fit the alarms with a rechargeable 9v, and leave a charger in a kitchen drawer...
As to the OP / Gwilym T, the maintaining of smoke alarms only applies parts 2, 3 & 4 of the housing act, mainly dealing with licenced HMOs.0
