I've never had a problem with it :) in fact, looking around at the new ones, I think that being called a nerd or a geek is even more insulting ;)

I agree too, I don't think being called a 'mad moneysaver' or whatever means you actually have a mental health problem or is degrading to the majority with mental health problems, I'm sure that most didn't even make the connection, a bit OTT changing them IMHO!

From www.dictionary.com (avoiding wikipedia although that offers a similar explanation)

    Nerd

    - noun, slang
1.a stupid, irritating, ineffectual, or unattractive person. 2.an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit: a computer nerd.

Who do we complain to about that?

I'd never considered the previous terms as a slight to anyone with mental health issues but I'm not sure if this is an improvement.

I wondered if there were any "good" words that could be used in place of "mad" so I just put "mad" into an on-line thesaurus...

    http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/mad

There are plenty of alternatives for "mad" to choose from - the third set down being the best.

So why not just change the offending words and yet keep the fun sense of the originals?
