I want to be made redundant!!!

but feel that staying off 10% to 20% of the year equates to a nice increase in my wages each year.
If that is your attitude I hope your GP refuses to sign you off.
Sick pay is there for those that are genuinely sick, not those who want an extended jolly or want to set up their own business.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Or I could get my sick pay for 3 months of the year like most do in our place due to the stress we are put under and top Executives in the company offering themselves huge pay increases and others leaving with huge pay offs.
I understand your view and to an extent you may be correct. Equivalent roles in INDIA are getting substantially less. I don't think we'll agree on this but feel that staying off 10% to 20% of the year equates to a nice increase in my wages each year. Over the 4 years that is just what I should have got anyway.
I will leave when I have sorted myself out.

You are a complete and utter !!!!!! tbh
Its part of lifes exectuives get paid ridicolous sums, however it doesnt excuse you doing sickies
You clearly have an over inflated opinion of yourself but the fact is you get paid monkey wages because you are a monkey0 -

Maybe what I said came out a bit wrong. I do suffer from stress and am on medication because of it. The targets this particular company comes up with are ridiculous. They make life unbearable with a turnover of staff you would not believe. Out of about 350 employess they are down to 100 or odd within 2 years. Mainly through natural wastage. In my eyes that shows that there are very few people who like the environment they work.
On a personal note I have wanted to go self employed for some time. I will use the opportunity, whilst I get over the stress, to look at ways of developing my self employment. I can't just sit there every day without doing anything. At the same time I know that I can't cope with work. The day I was signed off I actually collapsed with exhaustion. I don't want to go back and work for this company and this to happen again.
My views differ than yours in relation to others who go off with stress. There are circumstances when people feel great at home. The stress begins in work and the employer does have an obligation to protect them. If they can't then a stay at home might just be the right answer. If you want to call it a holiday that is upto you.

It is part of life that executives get paid ridiculous sums - says who??
Who said I get paid monkey wages?? I just said that they hadn't gone up with inflation. Incidentally the reason I am thinking of going self employed full time is because I have made more money over the last 10 years OUTSIDE of work than I have inside of work. All declared for Tax. I have a brand new car - paid with cash. Have a number of houses. Would you like this monkey to go on??

Using sickness as a "tool" to get redundancy is a very high risk strategy - especially given what you've said about the company.
Ultimately, you can be dismissed if you are unable to do your job due to illness. There's a lengthy procedure, but it could result in you losing your job with absolutely no payout whatsoever.
This sounds like the sort of company that will simply "tough it out" if you suggest they make you redundant. You will have indicated that you want to go; indicated that you want money to go .... they will just stick it out in the hope that you get completely fed up and resign.
Tread carefully - I suggest you don't use sickness as a catalyst for redundancy.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Sorry Stebiz but that just makes you sound smug. You clearly do not need the money from your employment, so why not just resign?
You clearly have issues with those in positions more senior to yourself. Have you thought about counselling (serious suggestion)?Gone ... or have I?0 -

This is not the purpose of sick leave. If your employer finds out, they will be well within their rights to summarily dismiss you for gross misconduct.I can't just sit there every day without doing anything.

Thanks for bringing this debate to a more intelligent one. I agree with you in relation to it being a high risk strategy. In this instance I'm not duly concerned. I don't intend to work for anybody again anyway. Thankfully due to the work I have done outside of work I am in a 'reasonable financial position'. I just feel that they have played dirty. Instead of doing the honourable thing and paying redundancy they are being under handed. If they do break my contract due to being unfit for work, I will take this as an opportunity to take them to an Industrial Tribunal for stress caused at work. Work Stress is on my sicknote from the doctor. If this fails it will of cost nothing and I will stick to Self Employment. Fortunately my wife works also so things won't be too bad.
I must stress that I am not a shirker. I am not also a person who lives off the state and never have done. I am however a person who believes in fairness and I don't think this company is being fair.

I don't have issues with those in seniority - honest! But answer this question honestly. If Directors offered themselves redundancy and other directors got a pay rise equivalent to 8% and you got 0% would you think this was fair?? If other directors who had been there less that 18 months got pay offs of over 1 million and you had been there 10 years and got zero, would you think this fair??

And if they do dismiss me for gross misconduct - so be it - life will go on. I won't work for another company again. This was my first time - and last. I have been self employed before and it was far more motivating - and financial rewarding. My mistake was stopping it in the first place.
