Your diary is for you to post what helps you. Hope your referral goes well. Good that you are getting back on top of things at work too. You like everyone you work with are only human - you can't be 100% all the time. The loch swimming really does sound amazing.

The next week is me learning to live again albeit a little differently and truly by myself, essentials with some exercise and being kind to myself and not asking any more of me.

This is actually harder than it seems. I didn't really manage to do much around work yesterday, Mr AJM came round to help me finish cutting the hedge in the back garden although I had done most of it when he arrived as I was sick of having to wait. By the time we had done that and moved some wood I had run out of time to meet some people for a loch swim and then missed a post about another one :(
I have been awake for 2 hours already so trying to be productive as I know I will crash and burn again tonight. One load of washing done which I am about to hang up before jumping in the shower.I might try and get some ironing done before work too. I was hoping to meet someone for a sea swim this afternoon but I don't think I will get away from work early enough.
On a bonus I filled my car up expecting to use it for the 2 swims so will save a bit of money in fuel and only spent £3.25 yesterday.

  • On a leadership course years ago, one of the things I learnt was is ok just to function... to recuperate and pull it all together. We don't have to be pushing forward all of the time. Stressors are sometimes too much push aside. That applies to work and home. I left a highly stressful job 5 years ago and went into a dull, but well enough paid job. I only lasted a year as I lost motivation and need a bit of oomph to my day ;) But I used that time to heal and repair my jangled nerves :D

I often have crazy sleep patterns, sometimes through stress or just shift worker life. It's good you have used the time for your chores… now tonight you can rest because you should be tired :D give yourself permission ;)

I have learned quite a lot over the last few weeks but with everything going on I am finding it hard to implement anything. I will head home soon and do a few more things before packing for a stay with my parents. Booked in for swim training later so should be falling into bed.

Had a bit of a chat with my mum last night, I hadn't planned to but figured it made sense to tell both my parents that I am struggling. She doesn't know all the reasons why and I probably won't tell her everything but have also explained to her why I won't. Should get some time to do the same thing with my dad today, being a trained life coach he will no doubt approach it differently but I should get some good advice so long as he doesn't start trying to fix me!

Other than the fuel used in my car yesterday was a spend free day and today probably will be too :D

Put my skills to good use when I visited my nan and aunt in residential home this morning and played my flute to them and the other residents in the lounge. I have said next time if they can all give me advance warning of each of their favourite tunes I will play for each of them. During a tough time for me I enjoyed bringing some light to others.

That made me smile. Sometimes it is only the little things that make a day worth it ... but when they bring joy to others it is definately worth it :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Apologies to anyone who reads my diary but this will be a sanctuary of sorts until things calm down in my life a bit. The bonus is things can't get any lower now and I just need to find a way to slowly pull myself up but unsure how to start.

Moneywise, not much to report but I need to be very careful not to spend to try and make myself feel better.

just catching up with you. hang in there, darkest hour before dawn and all that..... and your diary your choice. The joy of the diary is that you can pour your heart out and its ok .... in real life you maybe wouldn't spill so much but here you can and it is totally fine :)

Good advice. I've half-killed myself recently finishing off an Open University MBA while working a very busy and stressful job, and now it's time to just recover. In as much as possible I've wiped the to-do list, and trying to just focus on looking after myself, and the core things at home and work (in roughly that order). Not always easy to do, but I think giving yourself permission to 'just function' and recuperate for a bit is important.

Home again now. I ended up not having a chance to chat to my dad so I will try and ring this week to chat to him, I want to talk without my mum around and she got up a lot earlier than normal which took away my opportunity. I stopped off for an outdoor swim with some of my buddies and some new ones to recharge my endorphins, they don't always last long but it is a good way to start the week.

I fell against the grill and over hob on Thursday evening trying to catch a spider (I have spider issues) and am now trying to get rid of all the shattered glass. I think it might be easier if I can work out how to take the door off, I am sure there must be a video online to help me so I will do some digging. I have a horrid bruise which is getting worse by the day and is meaning I can only sleep on one side :( I have ordered a takeaway for dinner as cooking is going to be too fiddly around the cooker tonight while I try and get things sorted.

Anyone any idea how much I can expect to pay for a handyman? I have a few jobs to do which I am hopeful I will find some friends to help with (I am not very good at asking for help) but if they are not forthcoming I may have to bite the bullet and pay for help.

I have a heating engineer coming to look at a radiator that isn't working tomorrow, after a 2 week break the workman saga starts again :rotfl:
