Suffolk_lass said:I thought of you last night as Countryfile on BBC1 had an item on Blue Health - based around outdoor water enjoyment - it won't tell you anything you don't know through your own experience but it reinforces the wellbeing and benefits to mental healthMy mum was talking to me about that last night. There is evidence that even getting outside for 20 minutes will help, even if you can't see any water.I went for my swim this morning, it was a little chilly and not so easy where my side is sore but until I was able to get my head in enough to swim crawl I alternated between breast stroke (this was uncomfortable) and kicking while lying on my back.Just filling out a form to get a % of a course paid through work, hopefully the form will be returned to me in the next couple of days so I can apply for it and get started while we can't do much else. I think I might need to set myself a daily timetable so I have a balance of work, study, housework and me time or I will go all in with the study and not get the benefits I have at the moment with the balance I seem to be achieving.

The form has been sent to my line manager so I am now in the frustrating place of waiting for them to sign it and forward it on for the education centre to email me back to say go ahead and enter for it. Hopefully I will only need to wait for a couple of days.Today's inspirational quote from a series I have been watching online, "Don't ever judge yourself from who you were because that person has long gone". I was thinking about exercise and fitness at the time as I want to be doing so much more but am really struggling for motivation. I know when I get into the right frame of mind and restrictions allow it should be easier to do something but I keep thinking back to 5 years ago and the fitness levels I had and worked so hard to get and maintain. This quote has helped take a little pressure off, I just need to find a way to get myself moving.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I set my alarm earlier this morning so I have already done 30 minutes of rehab exercises. I always put it off but I know that if I do things first thing then I don't have to try and fit it in later. I am thinking of mixing up what I do each morning to give me a bit of variety and so I don't get bored.I am swimming earlier with a friend tomorrow so I need to be disciplined to work when I get home - it is another things where if I don't start first thing I struggle to motivate myself.Zoom AGM this evening with the tri club, I am really excited to see everyone, even if it is only on a screen.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I think there is also a seasonal thing that happens - certainly for me. The lead up to winter solstice is my worst time of year and then January is usually a bit slothful but sort of getting organised and preparing for stuff. Come February I always feel more motivated to do physical things and start getting back to everythingSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Proof last night and this morning that I do need some kind of planning in my life as I didn't really have a plan for what exercise I would do when I woke up. I don't know if it was those thoughts that gave me a restless night or the mince pie I had at dinner. I had planned to have some time away from processed sugar but at some point I need to eat my way through the Christmas stuff still in my cupboard. I have been having a slice of Christmas cake at lunch but yesterday realised the mince pie best before date had gone so had one of those. In the end I did a really short Joe Wicks workout that a friend had recommended.I was meant to have a long conference to dial into today but it has been postponed so no idea what I am going to do this afternoon now.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I have applied for the distance learning course today, the materials will hopefully be with me in the next 2 days and then I think I need to wait for the tutor to get in touch with me before I can start although they did say to have a look through it when it arrives. I got a 10% discount due to my job which is great. I might treat myself to a nice pen and a new notepad that I can keep in my spare room dedicated for my studies. I have opted for exams in summer 2022 (assuming they will be happening by then) which works out at 3 hours study a week which I think should be more than manageable when I go back to work. I can use lockdown to get my mind focussed on studying which should make things easier when I am back at work normally but 30 minutes 6 days a week should be more than doable.
