The only comprehensive in my town is a sports specialist school. If you don't pass the 11 plus or get a place in a school in another town you go to the sports college. I honestly don't know why it is classed as a specialist school, the kids who go there don't have to have any particular ability in sport and they don't seem to do any more sport than anywhere else. The only difference I can see is they got some special funding, from Sport England I think, for a big new sports hall.
I wonder if maths schools get grants from Maths England for ........... I'm not sure what they'd get, protractors?
indeed, 'specialist' school are simply a con and contribute zero to the education of the vast majority of our children0 -
extra maths lessons if a maths special school (what do they do without)
more foreign language lessons in a language school (what do they do without?)
Perhaps singing and drama?0 -
I love the way Labour people now insist that Tony Blair's wasn't a Labour government and how Labour party members are not all Labour party supporters. What an utter shower of loons!0

Fair enough but some posters seem unable to see the difference.
As far as I'm concerned Corbyn's Momentum lot are to regular Labour voters what the BNP are/were to the Tories. And every bit as unpleasant.
The difference is Miliband was foolish enough to instigate a system that allowed them to organize themselves & take control. Extremely bad news for all parties IMO.0 -

The fact that labour did such a thing demonstrates exactly why blindly following some ideological line without thinking through the longer term consequences usually ends up in a total mess.
Tax credits anyone?0 -

Can you explain which of Corbyn's policies you actually don't like?
Thus far you are all ranting that you hate his policies and don't know what they are.
Which doesn't make a lot of sense if you want to rally against the Red Peril you seem to think is coming.0 -

The post you quoted didn't make any reference to corbyn's policies.
But apparently you want to mention that no-one knows what these policies are as being some kind of defence of the man. How bizarre!
The secret to winning an election - don't tell the people who vote what your policies are. Nice one.0
