I'm not a Tory voter and I think it's a bad appointment and I can't see much of a olive branch being offered.Britain Elects (@britainelects) Headland & Harbour (Hartlepool) result:Meanwhile, away from the fray, Ukip’s leadership woes and troubles in Strasbourg appeared to have little impact at the ballot box. The party won a Hartlepool council by-election with almost 50% of the vote on Thursday. The SNP also took Glasgow City Council seat from Labour.
UKIP: 49.2% (+49.2)
LAB: 25.3% (-17.7)
PHF: 15.4% (-20.3)
CON: 4.1% (-14.0)
PNP: 3.6%
IND: 2.6%

Labour will be unelectable until they produce a coherent policy on immigration.
My point is a bunch of smirking tories is not a good look is it. It's not a debate about Corbyn .....it's just schoolyard abuse!0 -
Bunch of tory types kicking into an open goal. Blah blah.
I know you think it's an insult, but do you actually get that Tories don't mind at all being called, um, Tories?
Although it does always amuse me how those on the left spend an equal amount of their time vilifying certain groups and vilifying people who vilify certain groups. Maybe eventually they'll see the hyprocrisy but I doubt it.0 -

The collectivists who are openly against collectivism.
The warriors for freedom of speech who hate it when you speak freely.
The champions of religious equality, but only if you're a minority.
The environmentalists who are against nuclear power.
The tolerant who are intolerant of differing views.
Those who dress up authoritarianism as righteousness.
Those who tackle gender equality, but only if you're female.
Those who promote the re-distribution of your wealth, but not their own.
Those who are against discrimination, unless it's 'positive'.
I'm sure I missed some out.0 -

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Meanwhile, in Jezza's favourite south American country, the state oil workers are so poor they're selling their trousers and boots to buy food:

But on the bright side, everybody in Venezuela is now as @r53-wiping poor as everyone else, so equality of outcome has been achieved! Forward in the great leftist workers' paradise!0 -

Loved reading this part:PDVSA [PDVSA.UL], which did not respond to a request for comment for this story, says its employees are happy and state television regularly shows crowds of cheering PDVSA workers in red overalls. The company talks of a right-wing media campaign to discredit late leader Hugo Chavez's "21st century Socialism."
If the right-wing media wanted to discredit it, surely sitting there and doing absolutely nothing is effort enough. The poor souls who live there can see it with their own eyes and in the eyes of their hungry children.0 -
Be afraid, be very afraid. This is what they admire (for some unknown reason); this is what they want for our country.
How people can see it as kind and caring I have no idea.(AKA HRH_MUngo)
