Bereft and Broken

  • I still haven't sorted the budget either, my current plan is to just not spend any money! I really need to sit down and do it during the day, by the time I've finished dinner I'm too tired to concentrate on anything much. I could probably watch another video or two but am afraid I wouldn't retain any of the info.

Good for you with ebay - I've made a similar amount this week. I've actually sold a fair bit but it's all been tiny sales - £1.85, £2.07. I guess it's better than nothing but after packing and taking them to the post office, it's very little money for the effort involved.

We have a tumble drier too, though we use ours all the time. The house is too damp to consider drying on radiators and there is no garden. I hate how it eats up the electricity (and with a pre-pay meter you can sit and watch it go down rather quickly) we don't have room for heated airers and I'm not sure if they would be a good idea in a damp house either. I have heard good things about them though. Remember when everyone used to have an airing cupboard? It was nice to put towels and things in there to get dry and they'd be nice and warm after a bath...

I keep getting offers to do a mystery shop at a tile store that is about 25 miles away for £5 payment. They are desperate for someone to go, they have called and said they would up it to £6. I laughed, £6 wouldn't even cover the petrol. They understood but wondered if I could help out just this once.... no chance am I giving up that kind of time to be out of pocket to 'help them out'. I asked them how about they help me out and actually pay me for my time and petrol...? I didn't get much of a response. Not sure how many more offers I'll be getting from that company. I'm not really bothered, the only ones I get from them are for the same tile company.

Are you allowed to say what the company is that you don't have to apply for? That sounds interesting.

I hope your mum buys you a heated airer for Xmas. I haven't actually asked for anything, there's nothing I need and I would actually appreciate basic things like shampoo so I didn't have to buy them later in the year. I wonder if my inlaws would stretch to a couple of packs of Lidl toilet paper or laundry powder instead of shampoo...

    How's the CLL been?

  • We were lucky and got gifted the airer from yes, the heaven that is lak31and!! I could spend hours in there....! It is really good considering we don't have a tumbler but I'd much prefer one of those. We have only just got it so can't tell you the running costs yet, but they say they're cheap so I really hope so!! Haven't submitted a meter reading in months and now I'm just putting that off!! We want to get a shed at the bottom of the garden and put a tumble dryer and chest freezer in there, to supplement the kitchen, but I fear I may be walking into Smolly's scenario there and fighting lawnmowers and gardening gear :rotfl:

Sorry to hear its been tough in terms of food budget smolly. Just hang on in there till the 28th for a bit more money and some exciting budgeting!! Has OH stuck to his ogrish demand to pay back the money he so generously lent you so you could have the cheek to survive? Or was he just having a bit of a moment?

No pressure, but I am rather looking forward to seeing a new thread with a new title to go with the all new smolly, who lets face it, is completely unrecognisable from when we first met her!!

How is your little one doing? And how are you feeling generally about it all? You seem to really have things under control and I hope you are feeling as well and positive as you come across!! DS is so lucky to have such a dedicated mamma and I'm sure when he's older he's going to have so much respect for what you're managing to do :-)

And yes please do tell us some CLL stories!!

Hope all are having a good week - I'm London based and the weather has been grim...!!! X

Hi Thistle and ada! Lovely to hear from you both and hope you are both well x

I will catch up with all my news tomorrow - for some reason I am really really tired today. I had reviewed some vitamin B tablets on Am@zon saying how much better I've been feeling in terms of having more energy but today for some reason I feel as if I've been dragging an extra body around with me. I don't feel ill but I feel so drained. Sure I'll be fine tomorrow so I am off now to have a bath and then off to bed for the second time today. Think I've done really well over the past few weeks in terms of not needing a nanna nap but I succumbed at 5.30pm this afternoon for 'half an hour'. I emerged at 7.30pm!

Before I go I will just say Thistle that the company is M@rk3tF0rc3. I hate writing reports for them as they tend to be really long winded and the pay generally is not very good. However as long as you can answer some accreditation questions you automatically get the job (the answers are all there in another document you just have to make sure you read it!)

I have done the tile visit - in fact I did it yesterday!! They rang me too and increased my fee but fortunately I didn't have far to travel to mine.

And here I go again rambling when I should be in bed resting.... will come back tomorrow and update the rest of my news. Take care both of you xx

I love the name 'Nana Nap', I've been having them for years and I'm not even a nana, nor ever will be.

Naps are my guilty secret and what I do when I feel that the day has got a bit much for me (not difficult !).

My brother is staying with me at the mo, having separated from his girlfriend of 7 years. He went through an horrendous divorce 10 years ago bless him. He's no angel but such a clever and good man but I can't see him ever committing to a woman again after 3 disasters, he's nearly 54. He's done a few jobs for me and I've got a longer list yet (don't tell him !).

This is my long-winded way of saying that while he is here, his 2 dogs join me for my nana nap ! Only small but they take up so much room !
  • I can't do the nap thing - if I sleep during the day I don't sleep at night, and I hate getting into that cycle so much as I sometimes need it I avoid snoozing during the day if I can possibly help it. :o Quite jealous of all your Nanna Naps - with or without furry people for company!

Sounds like maybe you've picked up some sort of virus that's leaving you feeling like that Smolly? Horrible when everything just feels like such an effort, though. :(

I'm with Ada on voting for a new thread...still refusing to subscribe until we get one... :p

Thanks Smolly, if the reports are a PITA and the pay not so great, I might give them a miss unless something really close is offered.

I love naps, if I had time I'd take one every day. I feel so much better after waking up!

I hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Looking forward to the news. :)

Wow you have come so far and manage to be amazingly upbeat in difficult circumstances. I think someone else also commented but I love your writing style had me hooked!
