The one with the address bar at the bottom was an alternative version of Internet Explorer - it was only in Windows 8/8.1 and didn't survive as far as Windows 10.
Edge is rather better than that.
That's odd as I am sure it only appeared when I downloaded 10! maybe I just hadn't stumbled across it before.
I will give Edge a try. Will it replace IE or will IE still continue? I need to use IE for a device I own that wont work with any other browser.0 -
I think IE will be around for a while yet, and I'm sure Microsoft will keep issuing security patches for it.iammumtoone wrote: »I will give Edge a try. Will it replace IE or will IE still continue? I need to use IE for a device I own that wont work with any other browser.
But I don't think IE will get any new features now.
Edge is OK but still not quite there yet IMO. I do use it for some things, and it's getting more usable though and in theory the Anniversary update should make it better.0 -
I've no problem with Win 10, just turned off everything, and live with the ones I can't.
I've always refused to use my MS account to sign in, the only time I've used it is when downloading trial versions of a new OS.
But I've now seen this,Also, Microsoft is now beta-testing a new Digital License tool that will likely replace the current Digital Entitlement mechanism. The new process will tie your Win10 license to your Microsoft Account. Therefore, it's important that, at least initially, you set up Win10 to use your Microsoft Account username/password for signing in. (Later, you can change to a local sign in process. But, again, start by using your Microsoft Account.) For more information, see the Supersite article. "Microsoft takes another step towards minimizing activation issues on Windows 10."Move along, nothing to see.0 -

I've read a few posts on a couple of forums from people who've had disks that completely lost their partition information (and hence all the files on that disk) from this update.
Now might be a good time to make sure you have a good backup of your computer.0 -
For the impatient amongst you..........See HERE...
Tried your link - got an error (0x080070057 ) - so tried MS update troubleshooter - which, typically told me "TROUBLESHOOTING COULDN'T RESOLVE THE ERROR"
This is on a laptop that has only been rebuilt 5 days and is up to date with "normal" updates !!
What else can I try ?
I have tried the update again and got the same error !0
