Mine did some updates last night, but I'm still on v1511 :(
Its a whole new build (3.5GB) which is being distributed over the next few weeks.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

As I now have this Anniversary update if I click 'Go back to an earlier build' will it take me to the previous Win 10 or right back to Win 7?

This may depend on the dates that you implemented the updates..
Since, prior to Anniversary, you had a month to return but now - they only give you 10 days
If you are within 10 days of both - I have no idea
    Try it and see !!

So, apart from it being a different version number and a big file size - what difference will it make ( I have never used cortana or edge)

Answering my own question, sorry ...
    I'm now on v1607

Using Classic Shell, the only differences I can see are ...
It put a shortcut to Edge, File Explorer and Store on my taskbar - easily removed.
It put 'onedrive' back into my start up folder - easily removed
The few shortcuts to MS Word documents that I have on my desktop, now have DOCX written on them instead of W, but the spreadsheet still has an X as before.

Can't see any other differences currently .....

    Edit -
    Also found
It reinstalled the american language that I had removed :( I've now removed it again.
It has altered my screensaver (which I put my own text) to "Windows 10"
Also the 'notifications' tods me that Win Defender needed to scan my system
Also wanted me to install (?) smart screen (?) what's that?

Back to the previous build. Otherwise it would state Windows 8.1 or 7.
