I have to say, at the moment I am hating Win 10, probably because I haven't found my way round it yet. Things aren't where I think they should be and I haven't found a way of changing things I don't like. I don't know if I want to keep it or go back to Win 7, by the time they stop supporting it, I shall probably have got a new lappy anyway.

Wait until the Anniversary Update appears next week, they've done a lot to improve Windows 10 based on tester's feedback.

Where can I find a list of the programs I have and how do I get shut of stuff like Candy crush which I don't want?

I'll quite happily argue against that but not in this thread as it's off topic to the OP's current problem.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

Right click on start menu item for candy crush and select uninstall. And read here for more https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5501155

Bit wary of disabling O2 connection manager as that is how I get on Internet I also have Toshiba ECO mode on usually too

You use an old USB modem for Internet access? How much are you paying for Internet access?

If you swap the HDD for an SSD, all of your data still sits safely on your HDD.
Changing the HDD is ludicrously simple: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_V2cIHUk8s

What you can do is to keep Windows 10 on the current HDD , but swap it for an SSD and install Windows 7 cleanly to that. You'll be shocked at the speed improvement.

I have Kaspersky and have had it for years, don't want o get rid of that but could it be that that is clashing with the Microsoft AV?
    Yes!

I had a similar message when I upgraded to Windows 10 because I was using an old version of Kaspersky Internet Security.

Have you upgraded to Kaspersky 2016? If not then it's probably the cause and I suggest you update to a later version.

I wouldn't know how to do that though
