Finally got Win 10 to download and install and I'm now on it.

When I switched it on, I got a box came up saying that this version of the operating system is not supported. What is all that about, I thought that that was why I was going onto Win 10, if its not supported, I might as well have stayed on Win 7!!!

It's a program that was on your PC before the W10 update that isn't going to work with win10. You need to find the offending program and either uninstall it or manually update it, most likely something put on there by the OEM that you can do without.

Make and model of PC ?

It's connected to one of the programs on the laptop.
Toshiba bundles many unnecessary programs with their laptops.
So it's an annoyance until you find and un-install or update the offending program.
Wait and see for a while.

    Oh...already been posted :)

Will it tell me anywhere what the program is?
Is there any way of finding it?

If you provide the information I asked for earlier then I'll be able to answer your question.

Installing and using Linux Mint 18 is a lot easier than trying to get and use Windows 10 (or 8)

But there are so many better distributions to try. GNU/Linux is great, but Linux Mint...? Really...? The people who are likely to try out Mint would almost certainly be better off sticking to Windows.

You could look in Event viewer which might tell you, but better still before clicking the window OK/Close etc ,go task manager and look there what is running.
