apple_muncher wrote: »Ccl - just some thoughts re food when you are in Lunnon with the children. Will the hotel room have a kettle - I would assume so. You could bring down packets of foodstuffs that only require boiling water - oaty thingies for breakfast, pasta things for tea? Brings crisps and cakes and biscuits to take out and about. Tea bags/coffee and a flask. Nuts, sweets. I know that much of this is not healthy, but it saves all those pennies when you guys are needing some munchies.
Have an amazing time!
Thanks for this apple. It's a blimming h0liday inn so had better have a kettle. We have breakfast included and I also have a plan to steal some of the muffins and pastries for snacks when we're out and about.I did a monthly shop last night so bought lots to take with us as well.
I didn't check in last night because I didn't get home and settled until 1030pm so I decided on just a shower and bed. It was a fab day catching up with a really good friend, then the shopping, then a 35 mile diversion home through some rubbish road works.
Today should be a much quieter day. I've already been out for my counselling session, and also got stuck in traffic for half an hour on the way home. Bought ds new school jumpers while I was out that way, but planned spend from uniform fund so not counting it...
I didn't get a nsd yesterday, although definitely minimised spends. Just the £land challenge for the kids and some pyo fruit. Then the monthly shop came in at £84.36. Obviously we'll top up during the month but that's a start.
As per my counsellor's instructions I need to listen to my body a bit more. I am very tired so think I'll have a nap before prepping and packing for London. And I am definitely going to find the time to crochet today as well. I will be back later today to check in though.

Hi All
Just sticking my head round the door to say hi. Not much to report. LSD. Managed 2.5 hours out this morning at the Adventure playground with DS. But the weather was so soggy and unappealing we came home. Will do another trip out after lunch.
I have to say I really dont know how people cope at home for weeks with children to entertain. If I manage it this will be my first August off in years. But catering to two entirely different age groups is really tricky. DH is going to work from home the next couple of days thankfully.
Everyone we know seems to be away on amazing holidays. Feel for my son a bit.
Anyway back later.

Please may I join in folks? (I know I'm a day late....)
Thanks Apple for a great challenge!
So far today I have redone my S.O.A after properly looking in my joint account outgoings. Later I'm going to start my sealed pot and put in a tenner I won on a scratch card today. I also want to call Drs and pick up a prescription. Oh and walk to town to do so!0 -

I have 4 children, ranging in age from 18 down to 7. Ok - the 2 teenagers now don't need much time being organised, but there was a point when I had 4 which did. I find that I only plan one day out a week (quite often a cheap/ nsd, such as a playpark with friends) We may do other quick trips out, but I only commit to one. Children need to (imo) learn to occupy themselves to a degree - lego, drawing etc (I'm not including tablets or games consoles) Obviously they aren't left to fend for themselves the other 6 days - we play in the garden (weather pemitting) and turn things like a baking session into a fun activity for usually 2 of them. Our holidays have usually been a week camping in Devon (no wifi, no tv) (and often in the rain) so nothing fancy. I actually love the holidays when all my 'babies' are at home - and I'm definitely not an earth mother type in any way (and have very little patience) Yes - by the last week I'm ready for them to go back (as they also are) but I enjoy the holidays with them (in the main - I'm no saint!!) They go far too quickly - and my eldest 'baby' will be heading off to Uni next month.....:eek:

NST #17 reporting for duty.
*1 NSD (unless partner treats me to Finding Dory at the flicks tonight- then it’s 2)
*Breakfast day 1: 2 slices of peanut butter on toast. Day 2: fail due to poisoning myself with bleach (See my DFD for details...I am an idiot!)
*Decided to take August as a dry month and be sober for the whole 31 days! I figured I can add what I would have spent can pay for the pilates. I’m going to a pub quiz next Tuesday which will cost £1 and a soft drink (£2ish). Would usually have spent £10-£15 including alcohol and crisps.
*Booked Pilates for next Thursday. Really looking forward to it.
*Naughtily had 5 hours of screen time yesterday, binge watching house, after doing a tonne of housework, however, this time I did something else at the same time... I’ve been making an embroided cushion cover for months then forgot about it until last night. Surely doing the craft with the TV on cancels it out... a bit...?
* Managing to keep to roughly an hour a day on FB.
*Just booked my appt. to see GP about Bipolar review.

Thank you for this. I managed to rally myself and we went back out at 2 till 3.30 then played in the garden till 5. So I felt it was a day that turned out fine.
I have struggled lately as my daughter is just learning to walk so needs constant attention or could hurt herself. She also has had 3 days in a row where she hasnt napped during the day with any regularity or indeed length (30 mins all day today) we dont have any family nearby and OH was away all weekend. Im also feeling very run down with a cold. The perfect storm for unenthusiastic holiday parenting
My son is a funny 7 year old (8 this November). Hes quite grown up, I think from being an only child for so long. He finds a lot of children his age a bit boring. I dont know why but it makes it hard to know what he will enjoy doing. For example I have just been through the local area guide and thought ooo he'd love that, activities like Parkour, creating a podcast, indoor rock climbing, & when I check its 9 to 13 year olds they allow for those activities. He also hates football. So that rules out half the activities.:rotfl:
Basically I just need to put my big girl knickers on and man up. Im not used to being at home full stop. So all sorts of change of pace going on.

Whoop whoop!!! I am declaring my first nsd. :j I know I bought jumpers but they were planned spends from the school uniform fund so don't count.
I also avoided a MaccyD breakfast whilst in traffic queue this morning. Other than that I've done lots of crochet and relaxing in between the bare minimum of housework jobs. Quite a nice day all in all. The kids had friends round and I've had to do very little to entertain them. :jNot giving up

Hi everyone
The last two days I have managed to not eat sweets or crisps, although I haven't really replaced them with fruit.
Only a slight craving for wine today, but I haven't gone and bought it.
I have only spent minimally over the last two days - £2.53 yesterday and £3.04 today
I have taken the train to work and cycled home yesterday and today. It takes me 30 minutes to cycle home, which is much quicker than waiting for the train.
I have put aside some of my youngest son's clothes that are too small for him, to put in a charity clothes bin.£1000 Emergency Fund #175 - £598/£1000
PAYDBX 16 #134 - £2139.00/£6961.85

Reporting in with another NSD.
Nothing exciting going on but I have had more than 1 hour screen time but a lot of that has been committee work so doesn't count (also been sorting committee paperwork for when I leave next month!!)0
