I want to stop drowning

I live in Salford , but there are lovely areas , my street has big Edwardian semis on and lots of trees. We are 200 metres from the hospital. 1/2 a mile from the motorway, train station and metro link (trams). 800 metres from bus stop into Manchester . Very well we do for everything, The north has many lovely places , just as the south does. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Think if we we do get the chance to buy them we will def have to move far away. Just have the slight issue of clearing the £47k of credit card debt :eek:0

As I said never say never . Friends of mine recently cleared a big debt , around £45 k . They have moved to Scotland and bought a house for about £100k . They sold a car and borrowed from family for the deposit , but they are on the property ladder for the first time and are 52 !This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I am not sure how old you are but you can get mortgages who will go up to age 70 in general. Not sure if anyone would want to commit to paying a mortgage at that age though but you can always overpay or use a pension lump sum to pay it off.
I think you are right though to get an affordable mortgage you will need to move further out. I do wonder if long term though this is a better solution for you. As your DH is the main earner can he get jobs elsewhere in the country or is he restricted to working in London area? How much would it affect you to move away from friends and family?
We found the decision was made easy for us. We could only afford to live in a not very nice area of Greater London once we had our two children and I was not working so just reliant on my DH salary. His company offered him a move to Cornwall, the sort of job that comes up once in a lifetime. They paid our moving expenses, gave him a payrise and instead of hours sitting in traffic getting into London he would be travelling across the south west. Distances longer but much nicer way of life. Our children were age 1 and 2 and a half though so both pre-schoolers. It meant leaving friends and family though but as we lived in Cornwall they always want to visit and we have built a new life down here after 30 years. I now cannot imagine moving back. We are back up there next week for a family birthday and I am dreading the traffic and just the general busyness of it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. My dh could get a transfer. I would miss family and friends but I also need to do what's best for us a family unit. I would love to live by the beach.
Dh is the main earner and nearly 40, he is starting to panic about not being able to get a mortgage.0 -

Maybe in a few years time when the debt is lower explore the option of a transfer. Realistically it is not going to be near where you live now though if houses are £350k+. Once your youngest two are older you could maybe increase your hours.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Morning,
Meeting us with my son's friends this week but we are going to the park and bringing picnics with us.
I have made another payment off the Nuba as I hadn't realised something had come out of my account already that I had allocated money for.
My aim by the end of August is to get my cc balance under the £46k mark. Which means me overpaying the minimums by £200.0
