    Morning All

I need to get a grip of myself and start posting daily again. I think the combination of a few days away last week, and a very busy week this week have sort of knocked me off track. I was planning to update properly on Tuesday but it was just insane and I ended up feeling very wound up & still answering important (to other people) messages at 10pm! And since then the week has just slipped away. Today is the first Saturday in 4 weeks I won't have to do the lock up tonight. But I do have other stuff to do today and tomorrow is very busy. So taking 5 mins before the day gets going to think through where I am.

    Wealth

    * In a funny place really. Very worried for April as not much booked. I really can't face having to take on debt myself to pay the basic business bills. It is a bit of a downer that we are actually doing very well this month on our side of things but I can't really work in any treats or overpayment because next month could be awful.

    * I have spent quite a lot of time this week talking to other clients about taking on more commitment now the other party is leaving. So far lots of chats but no firm commitment. I could do with at least one big block booking a month really to make the dribble affect of the rest of my income less stressful.

    * People definitely have plans for the place. Had a great meeting on Tuesday with one client who has all sorts of thoughts on what to use the place for in the future, but again can't bank thoughts.

    * Took a booking yesterday for £100 and have that money in the bank now.

    * On Sunday have a potential client who got in touch with me, and sounds very keen, coming to view.

    * Am doing a long event tommorow afternoon that again will be useful for the photos and showing the venue in use for that category of use, but revenue wise won't add much to the budget.

    Health

    * My son was off school yesterday, another case of dying duck at 8am fine by 9am. So annoying when kids do that. More serious is my MIL being in hospital for the third time, still in pain that just doesn't seem to be being managed properly from her side of things. She is awaiting another op, and her levels of pain in the meantime are ridiculous. But only being given paracetamol.

    Organisation

    * Bought a new shredder finally this week. It's supposed to even shred credit cards so very useful. Need to get into the office at some point and get on top of the filing basket.

    * Need to get round with the hoover today

    * Have managed to get rid of a stack of cookery books I don't want this week, so the only real clutter is still my husband's comics which we are trying to sell but they go sooooo slowly, maybe one per month. But it's always very welcome to get £20 to £50 out of nowhere.

    * As today is the first chance I've had to get OH and I to go together to close the children's bank accounts with their bank that is moving, that's what we are doing this morning. DS is fine with his being added to his CTF and I will add my daughter's to her other fund.

    * We decided that we are going to start taking a family photo each month from now on as we don't have any of the four of us together and although I hate pictures of myself, in common with plenty of women it would seem, I do think it's important for the children to have photos of their family.

    Right on with the show.

Mummytogirls thank you, I will do!

    Laura thanks Laura!

A mixed morning success wise. I had another errand to run before the bank and by the time we realised the time we had exactly 15 minutes to route march there before it closed. We arrived whilst they still had people in the queue and as we went to open the door automatically locked it!

So frustrating. When they came to let a customer out I went in and said how we'd been there at 12 when they are supposed to be open until but the lady just said there was nothing they could do as the systems close automatically at 12. I explained that we'd made a special journey that was not at all convienient but nothing I said did any good. I do feel sorry for the staff there as the branch is closing and I don't know if they had much choice in relocating etc. Which must be annoying. But because we are cosignatories I now have to find another Saturday morning where both my husband and I are both free, before May to go in and close these accounts.

On the plus side I did see a friend I haven't managed to catch up with since Christmas which was so nice. I miss her! And as I had decided to throw out two tops today due to holes, and replace them, I found 4 tops for £8 in the charity shops rather than £16 for the cheapest in GAP. Nothing fancy, just long sleeved t-shirt tops.

    So not all bad.

  • How annoying about the bank Bob. And I feel you on the monthly income stress - I'm sure something will appear, but it's awful feeling so seat-of-the-pants while you wait for it! Hopefully you'll be able to start getting a bit ahead of yourselves once the debt is gone so you have a bit of a cushion.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
  • Hi Bob,

You're a bit of a whirlwind at the moment, I'm sure April will pick up.

Sorry about your MiL, a very worrying time.

Love the photo idea, I too hate my photo being taken although DH is worse than me.

Hope you manage to sort the bank accounts out.

How lovely yo catch up with a friend, it's nice when that happens and what a find in the charity shop, I love a bargain :)

    Xx

Sorry you're so very busy at the moment Bob - things always look worse when you barely have time to turn round. I'm keeping everything crossed that things work out for April for you.
What pains in the bum about the bank - I would have been in meltdown...
