It does if your ovaries are taken as well. Mine were, that was what I meant by total hysterectomy, I don't know if there is a correct medical term for it.
I only posted because sometimes women think a hysterectomy means the ovaries are always removed.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

How glad I am that I know you lot.
I suffer thinning hair which doesn't explain the lush growth on my chin and the hair I could plait on my legs.
I also suffer with stress incontinence and weight problems. To be fair, the weight problems have nothing to do with the menopause, they've been ruling my life since birth.
Add that to the crow's feet, and some bigger birds feet, which adorn my once glowing complexion.
Oh, and the Tired All The Time syndrome.
I should probably pull a sack over my head and crawl under the nearest stone.
On a more fragrant note, I don't, and never have, endured hot flushes. YAY!!!

Evening ladies!
What a great thread, thanks to OP for starting it.
Most of us just muddle through, and get on with it, so it seems. I feel so sorry for those who have massive sweats though, it must be so awful.
I (touch wood) am one of the luckier ones. Have a few warm/hot moments, but not much else. I can lose my rag much easier than before though! Anyone else find themselves a lot less tolerant sometimes?
HRT was not going to be an option. Sadly my youngest sister died age 49 from Ovarian cancer, so you can see why.
The whiskers are appearing though. Yuk. So everywhere I go, there is a tweezer or razor or both. I have left struct instrictions (lol) that when I die, do NOT leave a whisker to be seen on my visible bits!
Anyway, staying active is important. I walk a lot, eat kind of sensibly, and take a multivitamin every day. The fizzy ones from Aldi, believe it or not are great for sending you off to sleep if you wake up in the night. Even my DP swears by them.
Going to start Vitamin D in September. It's all the rage, and sure what harm will it do! + Calcium of course.
Go for it ladies, it is a challenge for some for sure, and help is available. If I was suffering a lot, I would get medical help. But I'm lucky that I don't need it, because as I said above it might be a problem given family history.
Best of luck everyone!0 -
I am early 40s not menopausal yet but have facial hair, black hair and olive skin along with a Mirena is not a good combination!!
I bought a silk epil 9 series epilator cost about £100 but I use it for all hair removal, also includes a shaver attachment. Is as large outlay but is excellent and not too painful, others I have tried were agony.0 -
Hester, what I have is a x15 magnifying glass and a pair of bloody good tweezers as well as a pair if the thinnest razor sharp scissors you can find ( from a dog groomers actually)
Every morning I scrutinise in that mirror and I need to pluck a dozen hairs
No one else can see them face to face, they never get long enough
Top lip I use the scissors.
It's not a perfect solution, but it stops me getting sore, doesn't cost a fortune and takes just a few minutes
The mirrors can be bought as cheap as £4 if you look around ( Tk maxx for eg)
Trouble with using creams or pads at our age ( waxing is as bad) is our skin has thinned and is so fragile. Plucking for me leaves the least damage0 -
Suki, if only it was a dozen, mine is a full goatee when left to it's own devices but I have very little on my top lip.Chin up, Titus out.0

Bleugh! Canine guest woke me at 04:30 this morning needing to pop outside for a tiddle - I was drenched in sweat, and of course came back to a freezing cold bed.
Better get out another bath towel to put my side of the bed, methinks.

Haircuts for me at the local cheap haircut place £9, I cut hubby's hair etc.
Haircuts - DH pays a tenner to get his hair trimmed in town; I don't think I could manage to do a very good job of it, so it's best if he visits the barber. He trims mine for me, though, and also applies colour at home for me (he insists I continue to colour it); I have an absolute horror of strangers touching it, and wouldn't go to a hairdresser if my life depended on it!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
