Hi ladies, sorry I haven't read the whole thread, just jumping straight in here re hot flushes. I know we're all different but I've found my hot flushes aren't as frequent if I cut down on my caffeine intake. I used to drink a lot of strong black coffee and get terrible flushes. A woman I used to work with advised me to cut down on the coffee and they did improve, they didn't disappear but they definite lessened.

I went through the menopause in my 40's, I was offered and refused HRT. I'm now almost 65 and still getting hot flushes, I also have very bad facial hair and I get the creepies, mine are all across my back and shoulders.

I don't suffer from vaginal dryness or lack of libido and have had no problems with thinning bones, the Dr thinks the first is because the area is in pretty constant use, the second because I have a lot of calcium in my diet.

As for trying to avoid stress, well I like to but life keeps throwing carp at me.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Dustyblinds I just went off coffee, perhaps that is why the daytime flushes went.
Hard Up Hester hello again, I got so lost at the garden fence. Would you not try some kind of hormone therapy for the hair. The whole idea of waxing seems like torture to me. The rest just made me laugh! The more you use it! Thanx for that bit of wisdom. Hes why don't you drop in on the new thread I started in OS Family Trees? Don't know if it is your thing though.

Funny enough I've stopped drinking hot drinks and only drink caffeine free soft drinks, and my flushes aren't so bad. Very few during daylight hours and I can go weeks inbetween nighttime ones

Mind I've just had a madras curry so I will probably suffer for the next few days

I had a total hysterectomy at 47 so went straight into menopause which meant my periods stopped. That was it, oh hang on my migraines pretty well stopped overnight. So all good.

T&T, I have asked about treatment for facial hair but was told nothing was available and that I needed to try electrolysis. I did enquire about it but it's £30 a session and I'd need 20 sessions to start with and then regular top up sessions, all way out of my reach financially. Home waxing no longer works as the hair is too thick and strong, also the hair needs to be a certain length to be waxed, which means growing a beard before an appointment.

MITSTM it was a female Dr when I changed surgery, she asked if I had any menopause problems and said 'Many women who remain sexually active in a weekly or more manner during the menopause find they suffer less vaginal dryness' to which I replied 'That'll be me then!'

I also went caffeine free at around the same time in an attempt to avoid the panic attacks and palpitations I was getting, it stopped the palpitations, but I still get panic attacks, but that could be caused be the stress of all the carp life throws at me!

This is a copy of a post I did about the stress in my life:-

According to Forrest Gump's mamma 'Life is like a box of chocolates'.
Well my life certainly includes chocolate, in varying amounts depending on my stress levels.
But my life isn't like a box of chocolates, it's like a sodding great rucksack that some muppet forgot to zip up.
Coping ok with L&M's PTSD and depression, ok let's chuck in a bipolar diagnoses for your daughter.
Coping ok moneywise, ok we'll give you a pay cut and change the L&M's duties to make him unhappy.
Settled nicely in your house, ok, let's make you move as you will no longer afford the mortgage with all the changes at work.
All I can do it hitch up my shoulders a bit higher to take the extra weight in the rucksack, and remember the words of my friend Joy. Chin up and tits out!
