Cat it must be so wearing having your son get up at night. By their age you sort of feel like sleepless nights shouldn't be an issue dont you." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hope work goes ok for you tomorrow Cat - we broke up late and so don't go back until the 9th which means I have this full week off thankfully.
I am going to do some work today though - it's going to come around sooner than I think so better do something to get back in the swing of it.
Try to make the most of today xx0 -
A belated happy new year CCL. Genuinely wishing you all the best for the year ahead.0

Well, I was wrong - Sunderland bagged a draw at the football... That means the boys are in a reasonable mood. Even better than that is that ds slept until after 1200 today so he's been in a better mood. No idea what will happen tonight - the boys are watching the darts at the moment and I'm just on my way to bed. I've started fretting about work so I need to get into bed quite early and try and relax myself a bit. I'm going to do a bit of mindfulness to try and get me over to sleep. Everyone else has got another day off tomorrow except me, so I'm putting myself first tonight.
Didn't go out at all today so bagged myself a nsdI also got quite a bit done - I cooked up all the sorry looking veggies and have made myself enough packed lunches to do me for at least a couple of weeks. I have started my bullet journal, and even found time to exercise this afternoon (in front of the telly of course) while the boys were out. I feel quite positive about life and my goals at the moment - but I know how quickly things can change once work is in full swing again. I'm determined at the moment that I'm going to look after myself, but I'm the first thing that goes when life gets busy.
Bob - the worst thing about ds is that he used to sleep brilliantly - I feel as though I have a toddler again. It has cemented my decision not to replace the sofa at the moment though - I love my old sofa so much and I know I can sleep on it easily.
MT - don't you work too hard. You're allowed a holiday you know, and to have time off without the guilt. If I figure out how to do that I'll let you know.
Speky - Happy New Year to you too - hope this year is even better to you than last year. Not giving up

CCL - I hope work goes well tomorrow, don't envy you at all. The first day back after an extended break is always difficult, so you know you're not the only one going through it.0

Well I have survived the first day back :j It feels like a bit of a cheat because I did literally nothing but the teaching, but I had to come home early tonight as I'd made the decision to leave the kids home alone for a couple of hours this afternoon between dh going to work and me getting home. There is a load of guilt already that I should have stayed and marked a set of books/done some printing and copying etc as I always do, but as I have already said - I'm putting myself higher up the priority list. I didn't meet the new Head yet, but he spoke at the beginning of staff briefing this morning - suspect that was quite nerve wracking. He seems like a nice guy so far and other staff have spoken highly of him. Plus I spoke to a friend who had a couple of frees today and she reckons the whole atmosphere in school is more positive than it has been for ages. We have a staff meeting after school tomorrow so I expect the official introduction will be then.
I was home and relaxing in my PJ's by 4pm, which is just about unheard of. Well, not relaxing - I was doing the daily jobs and then took delivery of the monthly shop from Mr T. I also cheated and bought the kids a MaccyD for not killing each other while they were on their own - I've had leftover cheese on toast for my dinner as it's all I fancy at the moment.
I am exhausted, I went to bed pretty early last night but woke up for the loo at half past three, and guess who was still awake and wandering around? Yes - 8 year old ds. I actually give up - I sent him in with dh and he was asleep in literally seconds so guess who was on the sofa again? I was awake until just after 5 then dozed on and off until get up time at half six. As my kids weren't going in today I just got up and went straight into work, and got there nice and early. Non stop full day of teaching and then straight home. I'm just about to put my feet up with my knitting before getting another early night - only issue is that I need to get ds into bed as well. Not giving up

Yes I'd keep the old sofa for now too. It really must be so hard on you, sleep is so important to good mental health too. I suppose all you can do is put it down to being a stage and that's it." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

So, guess where I am again tonight? That's right - old faithful sofa.
I'm not sure what's up with dh but I'm hoping that it's just a hangover. He came in from work and I mentioned that I thought he'd had a lot to drink last night (15 bottles of beer no less). I asked him if he thought that the was drinking too much again and was it getting out of control - he said he didn't know and then promptly went to bed. Didn't even sit down or have anything to eat. I followed him upstairs and asked him what was wrong - he says he doesn't feel very well. I didn't go too naggy (I don't think) but said if it was a hangover then I had limited sympathy and I've left him to it.Hopefully he'll sleep it off and be better tomorrow but we'll have to see.
So, as ds is so anxious about everything at the moment I've sent him up to settle in with his dad and I'm prepping myself for another night downstairs. I am starting to wonder if I should try ds bed at some point, but the sofa and 2 of the cats will be fine for me for the meantime. You're right Bob - sleep is completely essential for good mental health. I'd hoped we'd get this all sorted over the Christmas period, but unfortunately not. Just need to keep an eye on myself as things get busy at work again - the timing is a bit rubbish if dh is on the slippery slope again. However, I need to stop fretting and actually deal with things as they happen rather than living in the 'what might happen'.
Wish me luck for getting some sleep people...Not giving up
