  • Goodness me - today turned into one of those days where I was on the go for hours in the end - I'm just getting a sit down and a :coffee: now. I feel pretty exhausted so work is going to be tough next week no doubt.
Went out to do my tutoring as usual at 1230. After that, I went to Icyland because according to my email they had topped up my bonus card with a free fiver to spend before NY. So of course I used that :D Then home so that my friend's dh could look at my dodgy heating controller - it's been playing up for ages and as I suspected I needed a new one. It cost £90  but the happy news is that I have heating control and won't be waking up with it randomly stuck on 30 degrees at 3 in the morning or anything.
Then after that I went out to Mr S to take back a pair of trousers I bought the other day for work (too small :o) and while I was there, bought some drinks for us to see in the New Year at my friend's house tomorrow night. A couple of bottles of Buck's Fizz for the adults to share and some J20 for the kids. Then checked car tyres and used my 8p off a litre of fuel voucher (saving me £2.72). Got home and did some home made chicken goujons for dinner and now can put my feet up for the evening with the crochet.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
How nice to get the free fiver from Iceland. That went a fair way to topping up the golden food I'm guessing :) I do hope the new head will be ok and not a new worry for you. Hope tommorow night is fab.

  • Morning all :hello: :coffee:
So, it's the last day of 2016. Time to reflect on the year a bit, and to look ahead to what 2017 might bring. As with every year, there have been ups and downs but I think overall 2016 has been good to me and my family. My dh got better, our relationship got better and I managed the year without any debt. OK, I've been unwell mentally and physically but I am still here and still plodding on. And the happy thing is that my health is in my own hands so I have a chance to do something about it. Just need to remember that I need to be higher up my own priority list.
I've started making plans to achieve my goals in 2017. I've set up 2 savings accounts to put money away for the kids as I'd wanted to, so I have made a start. I also went through tcb so should get something back there as well - how very mse of me :D
I had a bit of a rough night last night so I'm quite tired again today, which is a shame as we have a long day ahead. I'm hoping for some time for a nap before we head off later on. I was up early to go to my training session and asked my trainer to send me an easy, short workout that I could do every single day to help me progress with the goals of making exercise an integral part of my life. She's done that already - now I just need to make myself do it every day. I will need to find 30 minutes for that, so I will do that - even if I'm up doing it during the night when I have insomnia (she says hopefully)
Need to get the house straightened up before we go away as well. Bestie is coming over to feed the cats for me and I want the house at least half presentable. This means all of the daily jobs, plus a couple off the weekly list, plus getting dh and the kids to take the rest of their presents upstairs out of the way so I can have my living room back. Still haven't found time to put the Christmas decs away but that has to be done before school on Tuesday... Then I need to pack us an overnight bag and get ready to go and enjoy myself for a day or two. :j
If I don't get back on again today then I will check in once I'm home tomorrow. Thanks to every one of you who reads and/or comments on here. I wish I could explain how grateful I am to have found people who are on the same wavelength as me - long may it continue. And I hope that 2017 brings you all health, wealth and happiness (as my dad says) and you get everything that you deserve. Happy New Year! :beer

  • Hi everyone :D
    Happy New Year
I am back, and utterly exhausted - trying to decide whether to go to sleep on the sofa pretending to be watching the darts with dh. I'm not exhausted with a hangover (I barely drink) but from spending the night in a hotel room with dh and the kids. It's a tough experience... I was awake with insomnia for an hour during the night, then ds wanted to get up and go for breakfast at 7am. Great, except he'd still been awake at 1am when I'd given up and fallen asleep. So I managed to keep him entertained until 9.30 but then we had to get up. My friend joined us for breakfast which was lovely, but the four of us were very tired all day. This means that the kids fought more, ds misbehaved more, dh shouted more and I just couldn't be bothered. Thankfully, my friend knows me well enough now to forgive me that. It was wonderful to see her again - she's just a little bit too far away for us to see her more often. I wish it wasn't the case. She's one of those people who never judges and always seems to understand and accept me through good times and bad.
Anyway, it was very enjoyable but I was ready for home when we got away, and had to drive an hour through some serious hailstone storms. Now I'm home, stuffed full of food, happy on the fantastic company but very tired and thinking about going to sleep sooner rather than later.
Obviously, with us being away, the focus today was on enjoying time with friends and family rather than getting stuff done. Thankfully I still have 1 more day off, before school starts again on Tuesday  I've really enjoyed my hols this year and I wish there were a couple more days... I knew I'd feel like this but I don't know if I'd ever be properly ready to go back to work. :D I need to focus on being grateful for doing a job that I love and the fact that I get a lot of time off during the year... I've written my to-do list for tomorrow and think that the best thing I can do tonight is make sure that I sleep well and am raring to go in the morning.
And with that, I'm going to get gone. See you all tomorrow!
  • Morning all :coffee:
I've been up a couple of hours now - had about 9 hours on and off between bed and the sofa. Rather unbelievably, ds was still up and running about at 1.30 this morning so I put him in with dh and came downstairs. This is becoming a rather frustrating problem now - I've tried lots of things to get him to sleep in his own room and nine of it seems to be working. I can only hope that once we're back at school that will make a difference.
So, I've made a little start on my jobs list - packed away all the decorations I can without going into the loft (and disturbing the 3 sleeping beauties), put a load of washing on and now I'm sitting with a cuppa and the laptop, catching up on weekend TV that I missed. I just watched EastEnders and broke my heart and now am trying to watch Sherlock (but I may need to do this without the laptop later on).
The boys are off to watch Sunderland lose at football later, and I don't really have any plans at all for the day to be honest - just get my daily jobs done and get as much of my knitting and crochet done as I can because time is about to get very short again after tomorrow. I need to plan for the week ahead food and time wise but I also need to make the time for a bit of relaxation, and my exercise. I want to be higher up my own priority list this year.
